For anyone that wants to join, here is the invitation to pray for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI on the anniversary of his election, April 19.

“Have nothing to do with the leaven of the Pharisees, which is deceit. But nothing is covered up, which will not come to light, or secret, which will not be made clear. So, whatever you have said in the dark, will come to men’s hearing in the light, and what you have said secretly inside the house, will be made public from the house-tops” (Luke 12: 1-3)

“In a world in which falsehood is powerful, the truth is paid for with suffering” (Benedict XVI, June 28, 2008)

“On the 19 April we will mark the 13 Anniversary of Joseph Ratzinger’s election to the papacy. In spite of the fact that so many years have passed since that joyous event, that glorious Spring day is still a source of comfort for us even though others have tried so hard to diminish it for us, tried to make us forget it altogether or turn Benedict’s pontificate into a one long heartache.

Once more, in the past days, even though Benedict is no longer the Supreme Pontiff for five years now, he has been the target of gross lack of respect. We cannot recall this level of disrespect, and there were many, during his pontificate. Those who love and respect Benedict have defended him, have defended his integrity and his complete fidelity to the Truth. We have also underlined once more, his extraordinary faith and his constant obedience to his Successor.

Now is the time to pray together for Benedict once more, with him and for him, for his intentions as Shepherd in prayer for the Universal Church. We cannot possibly wait for the next 28 February to pray for him wherever we are in the world.

The ‘Extraordinary Edition of the Day of Prayer for Benedict, with Benedict’, proposed by the Facebook Benedict XVI Tribute pages ‘La Vigna del Signore’ and ‘Benedict XVI The Court of the Gentiles’, will follow the same rhythm of the other Days of Prayer: it will be modelled on the approximate times that Benedict XVI pauses to pray throughout his day. Each participant can tailor-make this Day of Prayer according to his or her needs. Considering the little time at our disposal to prepare for this Extraordinary Edition, there will be no booklets prepared beforehand by the organisers in various languages. Each participant may consult the various prayer books in their language”.

    FOREVER!
