On Monday June 26th, Dr. Steve Tourloukis, the brave Hamilton father who sued the local public school board in order to defend his parental right to direct the moral education of his own children, will be in court again. Please send up prayers to heaven on the father's behalf, and indeed for the sake of all Canadian parents who will be impacted by the result of the case. Please ask God to send a spirit of wisdom to the three judges hearing the appeal, that they may side with the family. In case you don't remember the case details, the Hamilton Wentworth Public School Board (HWDSB) refused Tourloukis' written request to give him advance notice of sex ed lessons dealing with abortion, contraception, homosexuality and other controversial issues. Tourloukis had requested advance notice of any sensitive lesson content planned for his two young children, at that time in JK and Grade 2, so that he could decide whether to prepare them in advance of the lessons, according to his own Greek Orthodox Christian faith, or otherwise, to excuse them from class. The arrogant school board informed him that they would neither allow him to opt his kids out of the lesson, nor - get this - to even tell him what they'll teach his kids, nor when they'll teach it! Last summer, a radical leftist judge in the lower court sided with the HWDSB (and Kathleen Wynne who sent 2 government lawyers) against the father's rights. The looney-left judge admitted that the father's religious freedom rights were being seriously impinged, but said the school board had a "superior" right to impose its own liberal values on Tourloukis' children. Let's storm heaven with prayer, that goodness and justice may prevail. The court hearing begins at 10:00 am, at the Court of Appeal for Ontario in Toronto on Monday June 26. We also encourage concerned citizens, especially parents of school aged children, who live in the Toronto area to please attend the hearing in person. Seeing the courtroom filled with supporters would lift Dr. Tourloukis' spirit. Even the judges could be affected by a courtroom packed with parents and concerned citizens closely monitoring the case. If you're interested in attending, we recommend you arrive early, around 9:30am. If you do go, please do be respectful in the courtroom. The courthouse is located at: Court of Appeal for Ontario Osgood Hall Courtroom #1 130 Queen St. W. Toronto, ON M5H 2N5 To learn more about the case, visit the legal defense fund website that has been set up to assist Dr. Tourloukis with legal costs, here. I will absolutely pray for them. The schools have no business teaching such things to such young children and until one becomes an adult the parents should be given the rights that these parents asked for.
