To all the Prayer Warriors here, I’d appreciate your prayers for Alyce today. As many of you know, we are still dealing with some of the effects of the terrible accident we were in two years ago. Alyce had an MRI of her neck this week, and it showed significant narrowing in her cervical spine with pressure on her spinal cord. The radiologist sent the results to her spine doctor, and we are waiting to speak with him about what this means and what the next steps may be. Please pray for Alyce — for healing, protection and peace as we wait — and for wisdom for her doctor in determining the best path forward. And, if you could, say a little prayer for me too. Waiting and not knowing can bring back some of the fear from everything we went through two years ago. I’m trying to put this in God's hands and trust that He will continue to walk with us as He has throughout this journey. Thank you, friends. Peace. God is Good All the Time!
I am so sorry to hear this Miker. Both for Alyce and yourself. Such huge Crosses and their seems no end of them. But I am greatly comforted by both your huge Faiths and forgiveness. Sometimes I wish I had a magic wand and could sweep all the sufferings of the World aside with a magic wand. But this is not a Christian attitude. For I know as st Paul says, Romans 8:28 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. That God is closer even than you are to yourselves in your sufferings. That God has not deserted you but is somehow we cannot even see weaving something wonderful in all this. We may not see it or understand it but it is always there. But of course it easy to write this since I am not going through it myself but still I believe it. In my own life I have never felt closer to Christ than when I hung with Him on the Cross. I am sitting here in a really hot sunny Spanish afternoon and soon intend to walk down to the river for a short walk and I will say a rosary for you and Alyce. All this reminds me of the Communion of the saints. 1 Cor 12:12-13 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. I believe the life blood of the Communion of the saints is prayer and so I will pray for your both. In one way I wish it could be more but in another I know it is everything.
It is everything Padraig! Your prayers and those of others , including family and saints already in Heaven, are as you said in Communion. We both are still joyful knowing that God loves us. Thank you for helping walk with us and being our "Simon of Cyrene"
awh Mike when I read your post I immediately thought of Pope Benidicts quote. It sometimes felt like "the Lord seemed to be sleeping" through rough seas and challenges. but we both know the good Lord never sleeps he is just busy batteling the hurricane. prayers to St Jude for Alyce and to St Therese for your good self.
Prayers have begun, Miker. All my Sept days for you. A lesser man would have been defeated but you keep going on. May God grant you and Alyce all the miracles you need.
Thank you all for your kind words and especially prayers. We know these as always are being heard and answered. We feel so blessed by this forum and all of you. We know you all have difficulties as well but yet you think of us. Its very humbling. Please be assured of our prayers for you all We spoke briefly with Alyce's neuro spine surgeon yesterday and he wants to see her this coming Wednesday. Based on that conversation, it appears likely that surgery will be recommended. Given everything Alyce has already been through since our accident , this has been difficult news for both of us. We are also arranging a second opinion with another cervical spine specialist before making any decisions. Please continue to pray for Alyce that she has protection, healing, peace and freedom from fear. Please also pray for wisdom for the doctors, that we are led to the right treatment and the right surgeon, and for me to have the strength and clarity to support her well through whatever comes next. Most of all, please pray that we can place this in God's hands and trust Him one day at a time. Thank you. God is Good!
