Maybe they're more fun when you can't explain them. I wonder did the North American Indians have any accounts of things like the little people?
I wonder sometimes if dreams ar sometimes about future and sometimes about possible futures. But I notice recently Our Lady talking about something not being able to be changed, that it is too late.
Sounds an awful lot like Leprehauns.. In Ireland the Little people lived in hills too and had beards, of course.. The Native peoples of North America told legends of a race of "little people" who lived in the woods near sandy hills and sometimes near rocks located along large bodies of water, such as the Great Lakes. Often described as "hairy-faced dwarfs" in stories, petroglyph illustrations show them with horns on their head and traveling in a group of 5 to 7 per canoe.[1] "How Morning Star Lost Her Fish", from Stories the Iroquois Tell Their Children by Mabel Powers, 1917 Native legends often talk of the little people playing pranks on people, such as singing and then hiding when an inquisitive person searches for the music. It is often said that the little people love children and would take them away from bad or abusive parents or if the child was without parents and left in the woods to fend for themselves.[citation needed] Other legends say the little people if seen by an adult human would beg them not to say anything of their existence and would reward those who kept their word by helping them and their family out in times of need. From tribe to tribe there are variations of what the little people's mannerisms were like, and whether they were good or evil may be different. One of the common beliefs is that the little people create distractions to cause mischief. They were believed to be gods by some. One North American Native tribe believed that they lived in nearby caves.[citation needed] The caves were never entered for fear of disturbing the little people. Legends of physical remains of tiny people being found in various locations in the western United States, particularly Montana and Wyoming, typically describe the remains as being found in caves with various details such as descriptions that they were "perfectly formed", dwarf-size, etc. Archeologist Lawrence L. Loendorf notes that "The burials, of course, are always sent to a local university or to the Smithsonian for analysis, only to have both the specimens and research results disappear."[2] Loendorf also suggests that the discovery of two mummies of anencephalic infants in the first half of the twentieth century with deformities that caused some people to believe they were adults has "contributed to public belief in the existence of a group of tiny prehistoric people."[3] A graveyard unearthed in the 1830s in Coshocton County, Ohio, was believed to contain skeletons belonging to a pygmy race. In fact, the graves (which were roughly 3 feet (0.91 m) long) were "bone burials" containing disarticulated or bent bones packed together.[4] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_people_(mythology)
(Old) China and Japan do. An ancient Chinese poet (IIRC, of the Song Dynasty) mentioned taking a boat journey and hearing the musical instruments "of the fairies" along a bank. Also "death lights" seen over or near Chinese graves.
I think maybe these may have been the remnants of the former races hiding from the ones that took over an area. So , for instance the Celts hiding out from the Saxons and so on. The more primitive peoples. There may as well have been more primitive races in North America before the arrival of the Indian Nations. So they had to hide in remote places and in artifacts like little mounds or hills.
I will! Thank you for confirming my thoughts. That was the first thing I thought of but I didn't want to be presumptuous. I figured in any case a Mass for her soul couldn't hurt. But now I see she is in great need.
Yes they did. I used to have a book of North American Indian myths when I was a child. They were always mischievous as I recall
Thank you. Her name is Kathy. I havent had a dream like that in a long time. I used to get such calls in dreams to(I think) pray for the Holy souls more frequently but not for years.
I had a dream last night about little Demons called imps, who appeared to me as little evil babies. The Church believes that just as the Angels are arranged in nine ascending Choirs or ranks, so the Devils are arranged in nine descending ranks of awfulness. Sometimes these least of the angels are shown in religious art as little babies too, 'Cherubim'. Imps, are portrayed a little differently
Here is an appearance of what seems to be an imp, described by St Teresa of Avila: 'May what was said be of help that the true servant of God might pay no attention to the scarecrows the devils set up in order to cause fear. We should know that each time we pay no attention to them they are weakened and the soul gains much more mastery. Some great benefit always remains, which I won't go into so as not to enlarge. I shall only mention what happened to me on the night of All Souls: while I was in the oratory after having recited a nocturn and while saying some very devotional prayers that come at the end, a devil appeared on the book so that I couldn't finish the prayer. I blessed myself, and he went away. When I began again to recite the prayers, he returned. I believe it was three times I began, and until I threw holy water at him I couldn't finish. I saw that some souls left purgatory at that instant; little must have been lacking to their freedom, and I wondered if he had aimed at preventing this.'
Anyway, to sum up, not all angels are of the same rank, just as not all devils are of the same rank.. There are, 'bigger', ones and 'smaller' ones.
Years ago when I lived in Dublin there was a fleet of buses that were smaller than the big double decker buses, and they were called City Imps. The logo on the side of the bus even had an image of a little "friendly" looking devil. I always felt a bit uncomfortable getting on one of those buses.
I somehow missed this Lisa. It is very encouraging. Thank you! Safe in the Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!
Sometimes dreams are a reflection of your soul. Sometimes it could be a foreshadowing of the future. But it always has spiritual layers.
A repost from a past post - I felt encouraged to make this known. Lynne Todays reading: January 13, 2012 Reading 1, First Samuel 8:4-7, 10-22 All the elders of Israel came in a body to Samuel at Ramah and said to him, "Now that you are old, and your sons do not follow your example, appoint a king over us, as other nations have, to judge us." Samuel was displeased when they asked for a king to judge them. He prayed to the LORD, however, who said in answer: "Grant the people's every request. It is not you they reject, they are rejecting me as their king." Feb. 7, 2003, Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament - LB: After receiving Holy Communion, I saw within my soul Jesus sitting upon my heart as if on a Throne, His back toward me, looking outward with something in His right hand like a staff but without a hook (a few days after this I was reading something about Jesus holding a scepter (or rod) in His hand and thought that perhaps this is what I saw). He spoke interiorly to me saying, “It is from here I will reign!” Jesus then turned into a little child, but remained sitting upon my heart still holding the staff. Jesus then said to me, “I will reign in those who love me.”
