Yes living in the country makes the Bible come alive all around. But it also reminds me so much also of the Marian Apparitions in these remote places. For instance people shepherding their tiny flocks of sheep reminds me of Fatima.
I may be wrong but I think going back to the start of the apparitions at Medugorje the very young (then) visionaries, when they were shown the some of the secrets they reacted very badly. Especially the last secrets. I ,must check. That was a long time ago, back in the 80's. Yes, the Medjugorje visionaries reacted with intense emotional distress, sadness, and weeping when shown the heavier future secrets. It was hatred for neighbors of the other tribe simmering below the surface. Refusal to forgive. I see this kind of simmering anger around me now with the political divides in this country. Prayers to Our Lady to start loving our neighbors with generous forgiving hearts. Hatred is so obviously from hell.
And it's so easy for this anger and division to pop up in our own hearts...even those of us trying to love and please God!
You could say WW2 was the result of a failure to forgive as well. PBXV warned the allies after WWI not to humiliate the Germans.
Yes truly amazing. The man was in fact a Hutu Protestant pastor. And some say “outside the church there is no salvation!!” Here are the details. In Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust, Immaculée Ilibagiza was hidden by Pastor Murinzi, a Hutu Protestant pastor. At the urging of her father, Immaculée fled to Pastor Murinzi’s home shortly after the genocide began in April 1994. Despite the enormous danger to himself and his family, Pastor Murinzi agreed to hide her. Eventually, he concealed Immaculée and seven other Tutsi women in a tiny bathroom—about 3 by 4 feet (roughly 1 by 1.2 meters)—where they remained for 91 days. They had to remain almost completely silent while Hutu militias repeatedly searched the house, sometimes calling out Immaculée’s name. Pastor Murinzi took extraordinary risks: He refused to reveal their hiding place despite repeated searches. He obtained food and water for the women, even as supplies became scarce. Near the end of the genocide, he arranged for them to be escorted safely to a French military camp when it became too dangerous to keep them hidden. Immaculée has often credited Pastor Murinzi with saving her life, while also emphasizing that her deepening faith sustained her psychologically and spiritually throughout those 91 days.
