I was wondering if we have any Italian members on the forum who could give us a detailed account of how serious the situation really is across the country.
I have friends in both countries. Paris is worse than Rome, but it hasn’t yet been very violent. Apparently there are more protests against the government. The price of oil may also be a factor of complaint. None of my friends are too concerned. I am though.
I’m in the neighboring country; we share a border with Italy. I think Philotea( from here) is from northern Italy, but the real, nonviolent protests are in the south, where truck drivers and farmers have blocked roads, causing fuel and food shortages... These protests are mostly taking place in Milan. We’ll see how things develop over the weekend, and a few hundred soldiers have been deployed. I wouldn’t say Italy is as much of a powder keg as France. Wait for the weekend, than we will know where we are, now it is peaceful
I just read that people in Britain have been told to store 72 hours of food, water, and emergency supplies because Putin is planning to sabotage gas supplies. I don’t know how true this is. From what I could find on the internet, this is not a new threat.

I am not trying to minimize the threats all around us but I wonder if all this " sturm and drang" is a psy op--never let a good crisis go to waste etc. IOW another chance to control and restrict. ( i have my tin foil hat at the ready!)
