A reasonable and hopeful conclusion. Ave Maria!

I hold onto my responsibility to vote this coming Nonember, but believe the executive Branch has accumulated too much power unto itself over the decades (as exhibited now even by President Trump). The most negative example of this in our history (in my humble opinion) occurred at the end of WWII. In May, 1945, the Japanese offered terms of surrender which were turned down by the USA. In the months that followed we took the opportunity to unleash 2 atom bombs, one on Hor0shima, Japan, and the other on Nagasaki that when combined inflicted almost 180,000 unnecessary deaths (mostly civilian).

Then, shortly before the end of 1945, we offered and then signed a treaty that looked very similar to the one offered by Japan to us back in May.

My conclusion is: as much as I love my country, the war I thought as a boy was necessary to confront evil, ended with a very great evil inflicted by our own President Truman and military. What society has failed to be tainted by the effects of original sin? (n)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me!:notworthy:

I never heard about that so I googled it. They did not accept a peace treaty and vowed to fight to the end. Thats what I just read. My Dad fought in Iwo Jima and never mentioned they had turned down a peace treaty offer before the bombs.

Japan did not formally offer a peace treaty before the atomic bombs were dropped; instead, they ignored the unconditional surrender terms presented by the Allies. Their leaders were privately seeking mediation for more favorable terms but did not accept the Potsdam Declaration before the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I did look at the social statistics of the country (see post 21818), which generally follow the pattern of most Western nations, so it is primarily the character and faith of the Prince that accounts for his stand. Praise Jesus Christ!

Thank you, Katfalls, for that important correction.
That point mitigates my prior judgment. It also somewhat modifies my judgment on the USA's use of the 1st atom bomb. But the indiscriminate reuse of a second bomb in Nagasaki I still entirely refuse to consider as legitimate when the massive number of innocent civilian casualties are considered.

We are living in different times and have more information about such things. Back then the average person was kept in the dark and would not have gone for the second bomb. War is hell, my Dad told me he lived 17 days in hell on Iwo Jima. He was wounded and taken off the island. He said you were lucky to get wounded and get out. He had to go down into the caves and said his guardian angel saved him.

I'm reading a book right now, written in the late 1800s, exposing the origins and plans of the freemasons. Well before WWII, they had already infiltrated the world governments and were calling a lot, if not most of, the shots. They were all over the world, planted in all countries, working as one body. There is no one country or its people to blame for terrible war decisions. Most of them were in the dark as to the real plans going on, and believed they were fighting for good and noble ideals.
