Thank you Jo! I was prepared to accept Gods will, but admittedly, I’m relieved. Thank you so very much!
I feel your pain. Just got home from Mass . . .they have dropped the collection part of Mass. There is a basket at the back of the church to put an envelope in if you want to . . .for those of us who don't do online giving. And the Priest ten minute homily was about his three favorite comic books when he was a kid. Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Bugs Bunny. And Donald Duck had an Uncle named Scrooge who had lots of money. After that he lost me and I just kind of tuned it out. Is this the best we have? No wonder people are so lost. Feeling a little disheartened today.
If you don't talk with someone, how can you say you love them? There's no relationship and the label you wear has no meaning. So sad and in a real sense, scary! For instance, simply reciting the Rosary is empty (not speaking of normal distractions); what we pray must come from the heart. Yet, the survey indicates most people, whether Catholic or other, don't even give God the time of day. This simply means the living God has no role in their life, let alone the place of prominence! I trust those who claim to be born again have done a whole lot more than simply accept Jesus as their Savior. Pray the Holy Rosary. Open the Scriptures, or at least be attentive to the readings at Holy Mass! Get off the iphone everyone, and fall to your knees! This is why the habit of prayer is so necessary. When one wakes up, call on the Lord before leaving the bedroom. Pray the morning offering! Say night prayers before you fall asleep! Pray before meals. Habituate your prayer time. Begin conversational prayer where you share with Jesus your day! Examine your conscience! Maybe it's time to start standing on soapboxes. Maybe it's time to prod: how's your relationship with the Lord doing? If that many are not even paying attention to the Lord, that means I have failed to call them on. I must do my share! Lord have Mercy!
Yes, no wonder the world is in a mess. The terrible truth is even believers don't pray. The sad truth is “God who created you without you, will not save you without you” St. Augustine
To put into perspective, go outside and find a 3-storey building. The waves will be a little taller than that building. If you're in the trough below the wave, find a 5-story building to get an idea of what you'll see when you're at the bottom of the trough.
Sorry I'm so late with this. For some reason even though I'm signed up to "watch" the thread, sometimes the board just doesn't LMK when new posts happen. I'm also so glad for the packed church. To be honest, I think this is the reason for the rules just released that will stop the celebration of the Tridentine Mass in the Universal Church. I just posted a bunch of stuff on it over at St. Isadore's Lounge (formerly Catholic Answers Forum) in the End Times thread. If anyone's interested, I'll start a new thread here and post my observations there. FWIW, over on a protestant End-Times forum I post on, I had mentioned the end of the year of St. Joseph on Dec. 8 several times and noted that with the end of the year, the restrainer provided by St. Joseph might be removed. Just yesterday one of the participants noted that with the tornado in KY, the volcanoes and earthquakes all over the world, and the general rise in lawlessness, things were getting all "twisty". I replied that I noticed things were getting worse starting on Dec. 8 and got a couple of thumbs-up responses from people.
I love the masses at Christ the King in Commack, Long Island and they can be found here https://www.facebook.com/petersboat/ . The priests actually talk about Our Lady's apparitions! Last Sunday on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe the priest spoke of the apparition and this Sunday the pastor spoke of it again and Juan Diego and he mentioned Medjugorje too because he has been there a few times. If you don't believe in Our Lady of Medjugorje then maybe this week's sermon is not for you but he talks of Juan Diego a lot more. dThey do clap for the new music director but her voice is phenomenal, imho. I hope that some here enjoy the link for one reason or another, I really love it. + PS to Beth - I missed your good news until today but I am so very glad to read it now! What a blessing, Merry Christmas (to you and everyone here)!!!
Thank you Carol!!! And yes, I’d be grateful to if a priest spoke about the apparitions! It rarely ever happens. No wonder the flock is unaware of them…even regular church goers!
In the 1960’s in Baltimore there was a DJ on WCAO-AM named Johnny Dark. He signed off at midnight saying: “If you are not as close to God as you used to be, make no mistake about which one of you has moved.” I’ve never forgotten that.
Just posted. You can find the thread here: https://motheofgod.com/threads/suppression-of-tridentine-latin-mass.17937/
