Don’t know enough about laws … but I think Catholic/Christian institutions simply cannot accept money from the government without ultimately being forced to accept their bullsh*t rules. Even without taking their (btw it’s really our) money , not sure if that provides legal exemptions. It’s insane.
This is painful to read and contemplate what has happened. https://apnews.com/article/churches...used_on_governance_issues&utm_term=2023-06-25
Here's a sign I think: Bishop Strickland led thousands of Catholics in prayer and reparation for the public honoring of the homosexual Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at Dodger Stadium. During the prayer rally, a group of protestants led by street preacher Rubin Israel stood on a hill, Bibles in hand, heckling the bishop and blaspheming the Blessed Mother. There were of course banners of Our Lady of Guadalupe there. The next morning at 5 am Rubin Israel died suddenly. https://virginmostpowerfulradio.org...s-backpack-heroes-who-seek-after-true-beauty/ https://www.christianpost.com/news/...aveling-street-preacher-dies-family-says.html
A lot of websites that claim to be the truth tellers regarding things like urban myths are themselves suspect and likely run by very liberal tech companies or even by the CIA/NSA, etc. So I'd be very careful of sources. You just can't trust many sources anymore unfortunately.
Rubin Israel will break no more statues of our Lady nor no longer insult her Rosary. One suspects he will have a tough time explaining to Jesus Christ why he kept insulting His mother. Oh boy I would not like to be in his shoes.
I agree that you can’t trust sources any more. Jesus told us that all that is hidden will be revealed. At some point.
Rebuking the Catholic Satanists at Satoncon, Boston MA Ruben Israel really is anti-catholic and a troll...
I heard an interview recently about CS Lewis' books and The Hideous Strength - which I would read if there weren't so many other good books on my reading list. How did you enjoy the book? Lewis saw the problems coming didn't he? Scientism and government ruling in a tyranical world where nothing is sacred. And the whole thing coordinated by N.I.C.E. - National Institute of Coordinated Experiments. Tyranny under the guise of good - Lewis, Tolkien seem more like mystics - unless of course they were privy to information from secret societies. Who knows?
But yet we are called to pray for his soul. Ironically and despite his insults, Mary is his mother too, I have this picture in my mind now of her looking at him perhaps with tears in her eyes, saying to her Son, forgive him, fir just like those who crucified you and pierced my heart, he did not know what he was doing, This is now in God’s hands and all I can do is pray. I pray this way because I know my own sins and want Mary at my side when it’s my turn.
I agree andree. That Hideous Strength is totally prophetic. As is Lord of the Rings. What struck me was the clear vision of women resenting men and wanting their own power. And the protagonist not being the husband he should have been but weakly trying to be part of the fashionable elitists. Swallowing all the claptrap. And they started their demolition at the university!!! So many aspects resonate. Bishop Sheen saw the same things coming at the end of WWII.
The book was excellent, but sobering. I thought he had a better insight in how things would go than Orwell. Lewis and Tolkien would probably have encountered a lot of Marxists and progressivists in their academic social circle. They'd have had a fair idea of their thinking. God's Grace might have played a hand, too.
I wonder how much of the content came from God. The podcast I heard claimed that Lewis knew Huxley so the themes according to the speaker came from that relationship. Another thing that I learned which I had not thought of was the leading role of the Church in launching mechanics and robotics in paricular (automatons). They used mechanics in statues to get them to move and also in clocks etc. There is an essay here about robotics that refers to the Church: "Machines in the Garden". I find it pretty sad really. Why did the Church do this? As if there isn't enough in our faith to create awe and wonder that the faithful needed man-made mechanics to wow them. I haven't read the whole article yet, but saw this part: "not only did automata appear first and most commonly in churches and cathedrals, the idea as well as the technology of human-machinery was indigenously Catholic. The church was a primary sponsor of the literature that accompanied the technology of lifelike machines, and the body-machine was also a recurrent motif in Scholastic writing."
From what I have learned from Lewis' Christian apologetics, I know he was inspired by God. I might have lost my faith, but for him. He was a Protestant, but if a Protestant can be a saint, Lewis is. The whole of This Hideous Strength is underpinned with the Christian Faith, the war between Principalities and Powers. Huxley might have given him some ideas for the plot, but he'd have received no Christian outlook from him. The Church is the source of scientific thought. Science thrived in no other civilisation except in Christendom. But, at the beginning, it was realised that science was a demonstration of the Wisdom and Power of God. It was only from Galileo on that scientists began to see science as a proof of their own wisdom and things began to go wrong. Father Stanley Jaki, a great scientist, theologian, philosopher, historian and devout, absolutely orthodox Catholic has written in great detail, with immense scholarship and using only primary sources, on this subject. He has also written what is still probably the deepest and most comprehensive treatise on that big fashion of the moment, Artificial Intelligence, in his 'Brain, Mind & Computers'. We have nothing to fear from science. It's man's misuse of it that is the danger.
I'm sorry that I missed your post, garabandal. A great homily it was. Prayers for Bishop Browne! His words, "The views expressed do not represent the Christian position..." send a shutter through my soul. Lord have Mercy on a bishop who opposes the Gospel so forthrightly! Bring him back, Dear Lady!
Thank you Jesus for a good and faithful Priest! He sounds like John the Baptist! John was a precursor to Jesus. He was the greatest saint and his feast day was Saturday. Jesus is coming soon. Pay attention, the schismatic church is trying to silence this priest, just like John the Baptist. Interesting something kind of similar happened in my church recently. Our three new Hispanic old school Priests are like missionary Priests getting back to basics. One Sunday morning a few months ago Father Osmond told the people that if anyone was living together that is a mortal sin and they can’t receive the Holy Eucharist. He also went on to say if anyone was in the state of mortal sin they could not receive the Holy Eucharist until they went to confession. I heard lately some of our congregation has left and gone to another Parish. There is a separation going on, persevere.
God bless this priest for having the courage to tell it like it is. Those parishioners left because the Truth makes them uncomfortable. You are blessed to have these old school priests.
Thank you for your insights. I am also hearing that Lewis had faith, and I guess that all of those very bright artists and scientists of the same period went to similar dinner parties and knew each other in some way. It's just so sad that so few Christians today speak of the battle between Principalities and Powers.
