Prayers for all the people in Maui. Some 25 years ago, I was blessed to visit here and I remember the little town of Lahaina- it was a bit of heaven on earth. And in this town was a beautiful Catholic Church called Maria Lanakila. I read this morning that despite earlier reports, it remains. But unfortunately, much of Lahaina historic downtown is gone, including the majestic Banyan Tree that I also recall with fondness. But, most of all, prayers for the souls lost.... God have mercy. But much of what he shares about the Ukraine War has the ring of truth. Much about what he shares about Fauci is shocking. Either way we are living in an upside-down world! But Jesus is still on the Throne! I watched this last night. It surprised me. Bill Maher is a very,very intelligent man indeed. But my mouth dropped open as he rubbished the Bible. His reasons for dumping it were very,very trivial and superficial indeed, even childish. Even for someone who is not a believe the Bible is the most influential book ever written. It deserves though before rejecting it, not dumping it like a receipt from a supermarket. But it reminds me of the need for grace in all things. Poor Bill has simply not been grated the grace to appreciate the Bible. I love listening to Professor Petersen. He reminds me that no matter how smart we may be (an Bill Maher is very,very smart) there is always someone out there who is smarter and it would be very hard to find anyone anywhere smarter than Jordan Petersen. Please God he may join his wife, Tammy, in the Catholic Church. But that is a grace too. I have been reading a chapter of the Bible every day after Mass. Such a huge blessing. I am reading the Book of Numbers at the moment. A real eye opener. But this is a Blessing too. I mean the demons could read the Bible from cover to cover and what good would it do them? If we find ourselves reading Scripture with profit it is all about grace, not intellect. Pride has a lot to do with people turning their backs on Truth I think. Jordan Petersen is a man who has been crying a lot the last few years. The Fathers of the Desert often talk of the Gift of Tears. A result of God humbling us. Bill Maher does not strike me as a man who cries very much. We all of us need to do a little crying. If we never cry we are not taking a good hard look at ourselves and the World around us. Poor Jordan has been crying pretty well all the time recently.
