I can see the day coming when I may, with great reluctance, need to part with my iPhone. I just know that these phones will be weaponzied. :(

I'm thinking of buying a cheap text and call only cell phone as back up. Then I can switch my SIM between phones to suit.

I went to Salem in 2016…..my husband was on a business trip to Boston and I went along. I am descended from 6 of those accused during the Salem Witch Trials, so I was interested in the history. I too was horrified by the evil in that town. It was very disturbing. I went to the witch trial museum, it’s next to that statue you mentioned. They put us in a dark room for a presentation on the witch trials. They had wax figures that they shined lights on. At one point they shone a light on a wax figure of the devil, and talked about him as if they world has gotten him wrong and that he was actually good……I was so horrified at that point…..I stopped listening and was just praying until they turned the lights back on and unlocked the doors. I slipped out quietly. I would never go back there. I wanted to bathe in Holy water after that!

yes that is a classic satanist response. The devil was good and cares about you. God does not and thus the devil left God to come down here and fight for and protect us. Disgusting!! Didn't even like typing that.

Has anyone ever looked into the significance of the changes that occurred when the calendar switched from Julian to Gregorian? When you do, it says that this switch caused us to lose 10 days per year. This would mean from the start to now over 4000 days have been lost and if you were to go back to the Julian calendar it would really be the year 2011 right now. Kind of makes you wonder about the significance many of us feel and many point to the year 2024 actually being the year 2012 and thus we are back to the mystery around the Mayan calendar ending in 2012. Things that make you go hmm for sure. This gap now is at the pace of 13 days difference per year.

We only lost 10 days that one year. They didn’t have leap years before that, and had accumulated extra days

Oh. That makes more sense. So how is it that it now says it is 13 days behind per year?

Now I just found this. so the calendars are really different depending on whose you go by. So confused lol.

Agree, it was horrifying when I was there decades ago.
We were a group of school girls who were so terrified we were silent for the duration of the field trip. If you are Catholic YOU KNOW. There is a state college in this town, Salem State University. It's hard to think about all of those young people who may have fallen prey to evil living in that environment. People are drawn to Salem for it's history and charm, not realizing what they are walking into.

I was shocked reading this news today from my friend Fr. Steve. I think this is only the beginning of the persecution. I day, Joan is a saint. I ask you pray for her and family. And the others who are making a huge sacrifice. Reminds me a bit of St. Paul willing to imprison himself.

    Pro-Life Rescuers: Lunatics or Saints
    By Fr. Steve Ryan, SDB

As a pro-life advocate I’ve prayed on the sidewalks in front of abortion mills. I’ve held up pro-life signs at passing cars. I’ve organized educational initiatives in churches and schools. Little things, but not really extraordinarily brave and bold things to stand up for babies against the genocide of abortion.

But… what would it be like to take a stance of civil disobedience and block the entrance to an abortion clinic? When speaking up and standing up for the lives of babies in the womb, “rescuers” have (on very few occasions) blocked the entrances to abortion mills, knowing that it is illegal. I myself have never done that. I don’t think anyone reading this has. I’ve thought about it, but I know that the consequences of that action would involve getting arrested and stifle me from doing my mission of education and evangelization. But… if I felt called by God to take that action, had more passion about stopping the injustice against innocents who are slaughtered and had more guts, maybe I’d do it.

A group of pro-life protesters who took part in an October 2022 rescue and blocked the entrance of an abortion clinic in Washington D.C. were arrested months ago. They have already spent the last nine months in jail awaiting trial. The case has now been tried. The first five went before judge and jury two weeks ago and the other three last week. All have been found guilty. Note well – very little press coverage. The Catholic papers, etc. don’t want to touch on this.

I know: If you break the law you face consequences. But I’d assume that the penalty under the law would be reasonable based on the violation committed. This includes penalties for actions of denying access to clinics in advocating for human life. However, in the United States, federal law is over the top regarding the penalty. The courts treat it as an act of sedition against a constitutional right to abort. We all know that in June 2022 the Supreme Court in Dobbs settled that – it is not a constitutional right – so why are rescuers who block entrances to abortion clinics being tried as treasonous to this nation?

These pro-life rescuers were indicted on felony conspiracy for violating the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. The FACE Act (as it’s called) drastically increased penalties for people who obstruct women who are seeking abortion at clinics or pregnancy resource centers.

Upon sentencing, all eight will be locked up for a long time and be heavily fined. One of them and her husband are friends of mine. Her name is Joan Bell. Sentencing will be forthcoming. Joan and her fellow rescuers face up to 11 years in prison and fines as much as $350,000. Joan’s husband Chris stands by his wife and asks for prayers for their children. Joan is at peace – she prays a lot. Joan will spend the next decade in prison praying for God’s mercy on our nation, for conversion from sin and for healing for those who have had an abortion or are in the abortion industry. Please also join me in prayer for Joan, the other rescuers and their families.

Regarding the FACE Act – it’s a federal intimidation law to protect the abortion agenda and keep pro-life activists from being heard. The federal government has chosen to be a vicious pitbull frightening us all into submission to its liberal agenda. Don’t be scared!

What do you think? Joan Bell and her rescuer friends – lunatics or saints? I say saints and I thank them for their tremendous witness to the Gospel of Life.

By the way – I saw a news blurb about a guy who glued himself to the stadium at a tennis court in Flushing Meadows during the U.S. Open. Play was stopped for 40 minutes during the women’s final while he was being un-glued. His cause/his protest: people are not taking climate change seriously enough. He and his fellow protesters were taken out of the stadium. They were lightly fined, and told not to do it again. I think the guy is now being celebrated by ‘the powers that be’ as a real hero to the nation.

I am a pro-life Catholic who has peacefully and non-obstructively prayed in front of different abortion clinics several times in the last few years. I believe our protest should be peaceful and prayerful.

We should refrain from violence and any force, including the blocking of entrances. Otherwise we would sink down to the same level as the climate rebels, for example.

The sad case outlined above by Fr. Ryan will not do the pro-life movement a favour, instead it will taint our reputation. We may be seen as criminals or even terrorists.

I strongly disagree with the approach of Joan and the others. It might set in motion a spiral of violence and even civil war, and this would play into the hands of the system.

It's so tough, because you bet if I saw a mother taking her 2 year old child into a building to be killed, I would physically try to intervene if all else failed, law or not.

This is not a good idea. It would not help our cause, instead it would be held against us.

Can anybody be convinced by physical force? Can our struggle be won with physical resistance? No!

Are we aware what we are up against? We can listen to what exorcists say on this subject.

Our battle is primarily spiritual, not political, and in no way physically violent. If physical methods or violence were introduced, our defeat would be certain.

I recommend you join 40 Days for Life or a similar movement. We have to sign a Declaration of Peace each time before we pray publicly. I welcome this.

When praying for life, especially around abortion clinics, you may find you become the target of insults and sheer hatred. You would have to peacefully endure it, otherwise you can be sure it will be held against us, and our movement would suffer damage.

With the "Roe"-case overturned in the U.S., the pro-life movement has gathered significant momentum, and public support is growing. This small success is like a frail little flower - it can easily be damaged by ill-considered actions from self-proclaimed heroes.

You can be sure that our actions are closely monitored and posts on this forum are being read. It would not even surprise me if agent provocateurs are infiltrated into the pro-life movement (to turn peaceful prayer into some kind of riot that could then be shown publicly and held against us).

We must always remain peaceful. One of our mottos is "love them both" (expecting mother and unborn child).

Another example from my experience is our peaceful protest in front of our country's parliament building against forced vaccinations. It was a success, the government backed off. Being there with like-minded people felt like heaven on earth. Everyone helped and supported each other, there was a palpable feeling of love and peace. We were successful precisely because of that peace and non-violence. In the end, when things turned a bit rough, I was not there anymore. There is always a possibility that instigators of violence are actually agents from the other side.

Resistance against evil has to be peaceful, otherwise it would be hypocritical. Peacefully and prayerfully proclaiming love and truth is the Christian way, the way of the martyrs, and the only way that has a chance of success.

    God bless!

I've been a part of many 40 Days for Life prayer vigils and come from a couple generations of strong pro-life activism. As a child I participated in Operation Rescue on multiple occasions and actually sat inside the clinic doors blocking the entrance with my mother when I was 2 years old. I have pictures of me praying the rosary with multiple people being dragged away by police behind me. My grandmother went to jail many, many times for peacefully blocking abortion entrances, and she and others would spend their jail time praying. I completely disagree that that kind of witness in the fight for life is damaging to the cause. We must be loving at all times and never violent, yes, but there can be a legitimate difference in opinion about whether someone should witness to life by blocking an abortion entrance or stand across the sidewalk and pray. I believe some are called to pray and others may be called to peaceful action.

I like to remind people what they would do if they saw someone attempting to murder a toddler, or if they knew of a building where children were taken to be brutally slaughtered, because I think as time has gone on, we have become a bit desensitized to what is going on. And we've had a lot of "pro-life" politicians constantly whittling away at the zeal of those fighting to save babies...by always pushing for things like allowing abortion in cases of rape and incest. I'm sorry, but no matter how a child is conceived, he/she doesn't deserve to be killed. I believe THAT has hurt our cause tremendously. We have been compromising with evil.

And if you think we'll stay safe and protect our cause better by praying and doing nothing more, then just look at places in Europe where it's now becoming illegal to even pray silently anywhere near an abortion clinic. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile.

It's like with the Faith... If you present a safe, compromising, watered-down version vs. the bold, clear Truth you're willing to die for...will you even find faith anymore?
