In Brazil, there are many Catholics who flirt with Kardecist spiritualism. I believe that one of the worst traps in this is that many believe in eternal life just because of this mystical current of psychography.
They have successfully normalized the occult, yoga, astrology, etc. Try explaining to anyone that yoga could open a portal to the demonic and you will probably get an eye roll. People believe it's all harmless.
It seems to me that people are into a kind of social spirituality which boils down to doing things that feel good, but not into God or the Catholic Church. It also appears to me that people in general have a kind of veil over their eyes. They don't really care about their origins or eternity.
What ever happened to simple stretching exercises? Every physical therapy establishment in my town pushes yoga, it's a big business.
Yes. I know of a Christian public health nurse who says she only went to yoga classes to stretch. I tried to tell her. There’s a very good article by Msgr Rossetti.
I read this recently. So scary. And there are countless Catholics and Christians around here who go for the "exercise" not realizing its a form of idol worship. Also many get addicted to it in a sense. When confronted with the spiritual truth of it they make excuses. They don't want to give it up.
Where I go to daily Mass a man does Yoga stretches during Mass just outside the door...still inside the church building but around the corner so he can't actually see the alter. He then gets in line and receives Communion. In our Christian charity we are called to assume the best intentions. So perhaps they are just stretches. Perhaps he has the disease that requires a person to stretch nearly constantly to avoid the muscles seizing up. Either way I pray for him. They are the Yoga positions though...I did them when I was young, dumb and in mortal sin but I didn't ascribe any spiritual significance to them at the time.
I still stretch everyday since I have many injuries. I try not to do anything close to the Yoga positions, and pray to Jesus and the Blessed Mother when I stretch.
So now I'm wondering: where does stretching exercise end and yoga begin? I'm hoping to get back to the gym one day; can one inadvertently be practicing yoga while doing legitimate stretches before a workout to prevent injury? m.
The positions in yoga represent a god or goddess. So as you move from one position to another it speaks a language in the spiritual realm. Many people believe they can separate the exercises from the meditation. Hindus’s know the rhythm of one posture to another is a meditation. Stretches are different. They don’t necessarily follow a pattern or language.

I'm in healthcare/medicine, especially that field and yoga has nothing to do with medical gymnastics and science. Yoga is an important wheel of Hinduism. 1. Learning how to save oneself 2. Good and evil are one 3. Reincarnation, that is, how a person's soul returns in another form or body after death 4. The focus is on the body and selfishness appears instead of the main message of Jesus about love for one's neighbor, because real true love is the only thing that is given, and that is where real peace is found... Real yoga, and I mean those who have gone deeper into it it always has a strong spiritual sphere and there are a large number of Christians with testimonies that they barely broke free. It is impossible to be a true Catholic and practice yoga because that is like saying you are an authentic Christian and an authentic Hindu. As far as the medical terminology itself is concerned, there is a big difference because, for example, physiotherapy focuses with exercises on the cause of pain, pain prevention, muscle groups, looks at movement, analyzes posture, movement functions, etc. In Yoga, exercises and movements are done as a form of worship. It gained great popularity through the media because it advertises everything that is contrary to Christianity and that destroys the foundations of Western Christian civilization. Of course, another important factor is because people in yoga take what suits them, a little relaxation, a little stretching without any rules and laws. They can do what they want and they feel "satisfied" because they have fulfilled the spiritual dimension, that is the New Age...Of course, with time, one learns that true peace is not found, and you can stretch as much as you want without yoga. Finally, there are specific breathing techniques and stretching names, while in medicine it is used by muscle names. Yoga does not have a monopoly on exercises, nor does it own them... It is scandalous to me that physiotherapy or any medical clinical system offers this as a medical rehabilitation service. The reason probably lies in earnings and money, they take a group of 10 or more people where everyone pays, and you earn in an hour based on a little breathing and some stretching here and there. Physiotherapy and even rehabilitation focuses on individual work... Today, yoga is a business and industry worth over 100 billion dollars. Money drives a lot of things, mostly bad things.
