That raises the question whether a priest would have been talking politics had he denounced Hitler's treatment of the Jews in the 1930's. I suspect not. I don't recall any priests fearing to condemn the Hamas attack on the grounds that doing so would affect their tax status. Perhaps some genocides are more acceptable than others, depending on the perpetrators.

I don't believe that Trump,, if elected, will seek to start new wars. He'll probably try to find a solution to the mess in Ukraine. But where Palestine is concerned, I think that he could be worse than Biden or Harris. I wouldn't be surprised if he has plans to build Trump Tower Gaza alongside the beachfront properties his son-in-law has been promoting. The awful truth is that the Zionists own nearly all the politicians in the US. Evidently they own the major news media too, so what hope has an honest, compassionate politician who would wish to put the record straight on what the US has done in collusion with Israel and their proxies? They've almost wiped Christianity from the Levant.

I'm not naive enough to believe that an alternative to American hegemony would be a whole lot better for the world. Countries don't become powerful by accident. Their leaders engage in dirty dealing, back slapping and back stabbing, bribery, blackmail, threats, assassinations and every other underhand deed that will give them an advantage over other powerful countries. When all else fails, they go to war.

What's happening in Palestine is different. I will never erase from my memory what the Israelis did to Hind, the little 6 year old Palestinian girl stuck in the car with her dead relatives and begging her mother to come get her while those evil IDF soldiers looked on from their tank waiting for the ambulance to come for her and then murdering Hind and her rescuers. That takes a special kind of evil. Civilised people don't do that, not even in war. And anyone who continues supporting the perpetrators, by silence or deed, has no claim to be fighting the good fight.

Would the Russians, Chinese or Indians be any better? Most likely not but it's hard to imagine they could be worse.

Yes, prayer is the answer but prayer and speaking out are not mutually exclusive.

They aren't, however unless the spiritual bank account is filled up, speaking out wont do anything. It's not "a make wrong", but an observation. The world is currently spiritually bankrupt. Unless we get our priorities right spiritually nothing will change and will likely only get worse. Every good thing comes from God.

It's difficult to say whether the Russians and Chinese would do anything worse than Israel and Hamas, but it's clear that actively supporting Putin's war, which involves using God's name in vain and a false apostolate to justify genocide, is a terrible strategy for defending the Palestinians, tarnishing any honest action with ideological defenses.

I think part of what makes us who we are is that we are social creatures, not just individuals and this shapes the way we look at the world.

Imagine being a German Chaplain during World War 2. You know as a Catholic priest that Pope Pius publicly condemned Nazism. But, on the other hand your country is at war and you love your country.

Also of course if you speak out they are pretty sure to kill you.

People have so many reasons for acting as they do.

Pope Pius XII effectively condemned Nazism while maintaining his condemnation of communism. His stance is comparable to that of Cardinal Pizzaballa in the Middle East, who condemns atrocities committed by both Israel and Hamas while not actively supporting any wars around the world.

If you have not already read, you should read the book “Shadow of His Wings”. It’s a true story that tells of the priests and seminarians who were soldiers during WW2. It is a remarkable story. There is one scene where the seminarian sneaks/ fights his way across the battle lines and actually holds another priest at gunpoint to bring the sacrament to the dying German Catholic Soldiers. It is a short book and a great read.

Surely, speaking out without prayer is useless. Speaking out as well as prayer can do no harm. I saw a report a while ago that Cardinal Dolan had visited the Latin Patriarch. Considering that New York must be the most Zionist city on the planet, I wondered why he chose to visit. Perhaps he was promising aid. I do wonder whether the Patriarch has asked Bishops to be careful what they say in case the Israelis come down hard on the Catholics in Jerusalem. I've a vague memory that some Bishops in Europe (Holland?) made a similar request to Pope Pius X11 after he issued a letter for distribution throughout the Church during the Nazi occupation.

Before he was Pope, Pius X11 warned people against Hitler. I think he was Nuncio to Germany. Hitler hated him and refused to send a German representative to his investiture (or did they call it a coronation back then?).

Being a German Bishop under the Nazis is not the same as being an American Bishop now. Israel is not a state of the US. It's a foreign country and the US claims to be the bastion of free speech. Freedom of speech is written into their Constitution as is a prohibition of the Government adopting a religion.

I just have this feeling alot of things are going to happen this fall. First is the Synod, starts in October. Then the election, and of course earth changes. Not holding my breath, but things are picking up in pace.
I feel your pain Whatever, and your anger at all the injustices in the world. I thought RFK Jr's speech had alot of good facts in it about world events.

  15. There is alot more going on behind the scenes then people realize...we are in Revelations and there is alot of unfairness, pain and death. Our good Priests are preparing for slaughter...as you scream about the atrocities and the US and everyone,
I have faith and trust in those incredible Priests, who you want to tell what to do. God is in charge. Only God.
These Priests don't answer to you. They answer to Jesus only.
We all have been through hell and are still going through that.
They will all surprise you, these beautiful Priests....why don't we offer all we can for them. ....for those Priests ..our Shepherds.
I trust Father Heilman completely and Father Ripperger.

I offer every suffering and pain for our Priests. I will not complain about my disappointments in them. God is changing things right now.

I am keeping an eye on things going on in the world and the church. But I try to pay attention mostly to how God is moving. It is interesting how many youth are converting and are very interested in the Bible. Islam is only growing by birth rate and there is an ever growing Exodus of adults that cannot be stopped (ties in with Fatima & Zeitoun IMO). Many many Jews are also converting as they learn about Isaiah. Also there is a huge downward trend with atheism currently.

While the gears of power are currently manned by the Godless, I don't see it lasting.

Yes , but when a river is flowing in one direction it's hard to flow against it.

The Zionist lobby pretty well runs things over there.

The great Christian crusader, idolised by so many so-called traditionalist Western Catholics, actually went to Chechnya to recruit Muslims to kill Christians in the neighbouring country... This must really be diabolical disorientation.

I didn't hear RFK's speech. I'm just amazed that people can't see that the day will come when they, like the pastor in the Nazi prison, will some day realise that there's nobody to speak for them when their turn comes to be genocided. Senator Feinstein let everyone know that only a certain type of Catholic is acceptable: the type that doesn't have the dogma living loudly in them.

You can see on this thread that I've been accused of "screaming about the atrocities and the US and everyone". If that's the kind of response elicited by asking reasonable questions about the silence of Catholics, especially high profile Catholics, in the face of such evil, I can't imagine what could follow from such an attitude. Priests with an online platform have "been to hell and are preparing for slaughter" while a six year old child's harrowing death and the wholesale slaughter of tens of thousand isn't their concern. With such skewed priorities displayed by those who should know better, I'm not surprised that the Zionists feel no need to hide their evil.

Not peculiar to the US, but doesn't it strike anyone here as a symptom of the hegemonic influence on Western Christians that many believe we must be going through the end times of Revelation because the hegemon's power might be embarking on a downward curve? No possibility in people's thoughts that God might have plans for the part of the world that hasn't yet been evangelised and turned its back on Him, and that He might consider that the people there will make a better fist of things?
