I am in no way in agreement that the 3rd secret deals with an invalid church council (VatII) like those in the video Padraig posted above. It truly was a valid church council. I do however, believe what Father Malachi Martin spoke on the 3rd secret which he read himself. And he said in 1988, "it isn't 200 years away, it isn't 60 years away, it isn't 20 years away". We are now in the 20 years away from the day he spoke this and look at the confusion in the Church being led by our current pope and those apostate cardinals, bishops and priests who we see doing his bidding. Akita (1973) spoke of this apostasy as well, "cardinals against cardinals, bishops against bishops and priests against priests". Father Martin was right and he didn't (couldn't) reveal what comes next in a world wide event that he read about as well, but Our Lady of Akita did and many prophetic utterances since have as well. Having listened to his interviews and read some of his books, I first sought his advice about the disconcerting changes in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Soon he offered to guide me spiritually. I then had a rather substantial interaction with him over the next four years, during which time he often spoke about Fatima. He believed that Fatima was the most important event of the 20th Century, and that carrying out its mandate was the most urgent task facing the Church and the world. I had already noticed, listening to his interviews, that when he spoke about Fatima, he spoke with authority, as Our Lord’s contemporaries had said about His teaching. So, during our very first telephone conversation, I said, “I get the impression that you know the Fatima Secret!” And Father Malachi said, “I do.” When we met the following week, alluding to his skepticism about the Charismatic movement, I asked him sort of kiddingly, “Did the Holy Spirit reveal the Third Secret to you?” “Oh no,” he replied. “I was shown a copy of the Third Secret at the time Pope John XXIII opened it and sought the advice of a group of Cardinals in 1960. One of those Cardinals was Augustin Cardinal Bea, and I was his assistant.” I then ventured, “The Third Secret concerns the apostasy in the Church, doesn’t it?” This guess was based on the few scattered tidbits about Fatima that came to light during the lean years of the 70s and 80s, and on the reasoning of Frere Michel de la Sainte Trinite: “The material chastisements are already predicted in the second part of the Secret.” The Third Secret predicts “a chastisement of the spiritual order.” To my surprise, Father Malachi responded: “The apostasy in the Church forms the backdrop or the context of the Third Secret. The apostasy is just beginning now. But the chastisements foretold in the Secret are very real, physical chastisements, and they are terrible!” “We’ve Just Killed a Billion People” He then related to me the exchange he had had with Cardinal Bea, when the Cardinal emerged from the meeting Pope John XXIII was holding with his advisors, looking pale as a sheet: “ ‘What’s wrong, Your Eminence?’ I asked him. ‘We’ve just killed a billion people. Look at this!’ He handed me the single sheet of paper with those 25 lines of handwriting. Since that day, every word of this text has been imprinted indelibly in my mind.” Cardinal Bea had made the statement about “a billion people” because the Pope had just made the decision not to release the Third Secret, and not to consecrate Russia. I asked Father Malachi if he could tell me anything further about those “terrible” chastisements, which would kill a billion people. He explained that, before reading the Secret, he had been required to take an oath not to reveal it, but he did believe it should have been revealed, and that Our Lord and Our Lady wanted people to know about it. Therefore, he mentioned the Third Secret whenever he could; he would talk around it, giving as much background information about it, and as many hints as he could about it, without revealing the actual text. Thus he proceeded to rattle off very quickly a list of possible calamities, and said that some of these were in the Secret. And today being the Fatima anniversary here is something also contained within the messages given to Luz de Maria re: the 1944 apparition: Background facts about the (1944) vision. The apparition spoken of by Lucia occurred at the beginning of the year 1944, when she was a nun in the convent of the Dorothean Sisters in Tuy (Galicia). Two years before, in December of 1941, she had already written—by order of her superior—the first two parts of the secret of Fatima (the vision of hell and the warnings and predictions of the Blessed Virgin Mary), but left pending the third part. The bishop of Leiria—the diocese of Fatima—repeatedly urged Lucia to also write that "third secret;" but since the Blessed Mother had commanded her to keep it confidential, Lucia refrained. Nevertheless, internally her perplexity was great: with the world being in the middle of the Second World War, might not the time have arrived to write it? Lucia's story, step by step. In those circumstances, close to 4 in the afternoon on the 3rd January, 1944--recounts Lucia--while I was praying in the convent chapel before the tabernacle, "I asked Jesus to make known to me His Will," and with my face in my hands I waited for some answer. "I feel then that a friendly hand, affectionate and motherly, touches my shoulder. I look up and see the beloved Heavenly Mother." The Blessed Mother says to her: "Do not be afraid, God wished to test your obedience, faith and humility. Be at peace and write what they command you, but not that which is given to you to understand about its significance." She instructs Lucia to keep what she would write in a sealed envelope and to write on it that "it can only be opened in 1960." Immediately, continues Lucia, "I felt the spirit flooded by a mystery of light that is God and in Him I saw and heard: the tip of the spear like a flame that emerges, touches the axis of the Earth. The Earth shakes: mountains, cities, towns and villages with their inhabitants are buried. The ocean, the rivers and the clouds exceed their limits, overflowing, inundating and dragging in a whirlwind, houses and people so great in number they cannot be counted. It is the purification of the world, because of the sin in which it is immersed. The hatred, the ambition provoke the destructive war! "—Afterwards I felt in the accelerated beating of my heart and in my spirit, a soft voice that said: 'In time, one faith, one baptism, one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church—In eternity, Heaven!' "This word 'Heaven' filled my heart with peace and happiness, in such a way that, almost without realizing it, I kept repeating for a long time: 'Heaven, Heaven.'" Encouraged by these marvelous last words, Sister Lucia gathered the strength to write the Third Secret, just as the Blessed Mother had ordered her: "As soon as the greater force of the spiritual had passed, I went to write and did it without difficulty, the 3rd January of 1944, kneeling resting on the bed that I used as a table. Hail Mary." So concludes the manuscript story of the vision (Umcaminho..., cit., p. 267). Obviously she only wrote what was revealed to her the 13th July, 1917—the Third Secret—, omitting, as per the instructions she had just received from the Mother of God, any reference to this new apparition. How to interpret this vision? The extraordinary thing about this particular vision is that it comes accompanied by words that interpret it. And in that way, it complements and enhances the grandeur and seriousness of the message of Fatima itself. Apart from showing her ineffable goodness towards Sister Lucia—whom she comforts with her “friendly, affectionate and motherly hand” and with expressions of appreciation for her obedience—and of authorizing her to write the Third Secret, the Virgin Mary rewards her with this vision and makes her “understand its significance,” although she warns Sister Lucia that she should not add it to the official written communication: Sister Lucia could only write it in her personal Diary. The image Lucia sees in God, “the tip of the spear, like a flame that emerges,” is notably similar to the sword of fire the Angel holds in the vision of the Third Secret [3] And that flame, touching the Earth’s axis, convulses nature in such a way that even “cities, towns and villages are buried with their inhabitants.” Something which at the same time coincides with the prediction of the message of Fatima, “several nations will be annihilated” if people do not heed the requests of the Blessed Virgin. To that awful scene is added the “destructive war,” which Lucia understands has two causes: “hatred” and “ambition.” The atrocious massacres of Christians in the Middle East at the hands of the ISIS Islamists and affiliates, that reveal a satanic hatred (we could almost say hatred in pure state); and the bloody Russian invasion of the Ukraine, in which territorial ambition becomes more notorious each time. Are they not already first fruits of that calamity? It is worthy of note that parallel to the vision, it was given Lucia to understand that those catastrophes are caused by the sin that covers the Earth, and have as their objective the “purification of the world.” After the purification comes a great universal triumph of the Church, represented by the voice that proclaims “one faith, one baptism, one Church.” All of this notably confirms the analyses and forecasts that Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira carried out over the decades about the directions of the international situation, warning that it could result in widespread chaos, before a great victory of the Church. Note also the consonance with the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary envisaged in Fatima, and with similar predictions of the Virgin Mary in apparitions likewise recognized by the Church, such as La Salette (1846), Akita (1973) and others. On the threshold of the outcome of Fatima? Sister Lucia, the seer of Fatima, was a Dorothean sister until her entry into the Carmelo of Coimbra in 1948. Beyond what Lucia’s vision has as terrible and grandiose, it is worth noting its perfect fit as a key piece in the framework of the message of Fatima—that enthralling prophetic equation that is closer every time to being resolved—which it enriches with important details ignored until now. It is also very significant, the fact that the vision is made known only now, 70 years after it took place, when threatening hotbeds of violence explode everywhere and even Pope Francis surprises the world by declaring that we have already “entered into the third world war” [4]. In truth, Lucia’s description could not arrive at a more opportune moment: this context so convulsed allows for all to understand it without difficulty, and that is why it seems providential to us that it be revealed now. Its dissemination can help to understand the punishment that will come if people do not renounce impiety and corruption, and encourage them to “make straight his paths” (Mark 1:3) through the amendment of their life, to which the Blessed Virgin Mary urged them in Fatima. Thus they will become worthy to a special mercy of God, at the hour of a punishment that is each time more probable. That comment on a “spiritual chastisement” rings true to me, although I am not sure there is really a hidden text related to the Third Secret. I believe we have been in the midst of a spiritual Chastisment for some time. It’s really a form of dryness and spiritual famine where it feels as if God has pulled back his presence from us as punishment for the sins in the Church and the World. This pulling back of His Face, this Spiritual Silence was also experienced by the Isrealites in the Old Testament and it often preceded great physical Chastisements upon the people. At my Holy Hour yesterday i was reading a quote by St John Eudes about the worst punishment God can inflict on his people--bad priests and bishops. Dryness and confusion and worldliness. I think we are there!!!
Indeed, although we have so many resources now online via places such as MOG and YT channels like Sensus Fidelium who bring us rock solid teaching in the Tradition of the Faith. I have been attending an FSSP parish and have heard nothing but solid Catholic teaching coming from the Priests there who espouse the Church Fathers constantly. So, there are lots of good Priests and Bishops but we must search them out. If they are not available to us locally at least we have resources readily available to read and listen to.
I have been told (indirectly) that the pastor at my current church does not like people to receive Eucharist on the tongue (unsanitary). From where I am located in the choir, he doesn't see. Only those immediately next to me do. Yes, hearing that concerned me. Though actually I thought, hmm boy that's too bad. Yet I do recall a column he wrote in the last year letting all Extraordinary Ministers know and be aware this was becoming more prevalent and to anticipate it. In planning "my" pilgrimage, boy, does that resonate with me!! I have seen this play out starkly.
Boy, that Priest needs some prayers. The Jews follow a whole bunch of "sanitary" laws God told Peter specifically we simply do not need to worry about. Let alone that true cleanliness and uncleanness is within our hearts. How is it we have been receiving the Body of Our Lord on the tongue for 2 thousand years and only now after only 60 years since Vatican II is it deemed unsanitary in this the most sanitary time in all recorded history? How can one approach the poor and destitute with an attitude like this? What a ridiculous approach to take with ones flock.
I am reminded what my evangelist/apologetics friend Raymond DeSouza told me about receiving communion in the hand. The Satanists will only receive it in the hand, so they can take it to their "black masses" to desecrate it. It is a key reason for not allowing it in the hand, beside the fact that reception on the tongue is the most reverent way of partaking of the body and blood of Jesus.
There is concern with passing germs if fingers touch a person's lips or tongue just as there is with the Cup of Blood. During the winter months, we are encouraged to know when we're not feeling well and abstain from the Cup if we have a cold coming on. That I understand. Of course I suspect many abstain from the Cup for fear of germs. He is in my prayers. My diocese is also in my prayers. In my reading, early on in our history we received in the hand. I haven't read enough of the background on this subject to know when we switched to the tongue. Did we miss anything in the translation from Aramaic, Greek or Latin to English - Body/Flesh? On my group pilgrimage we will be going to Lanciano Italy. This is the location of the oldest Eucharistic Miracle dated 750 AD.

As far as I have been able to research (and I'm not an expert) sometimes in the early Church Communion in the hand may have been allowed, but it seems it was only in times of extreme persecution when there was not a priest available. It doesn't seem to have been a common or desired practice. Like many other things, we may have been fed half-truths about this. This past weekend I was in Vermont at a liberal parish to witness the first communion of a young relative. There were several first communicants around the age of seven,... all received in the hand. The thing that struck me was immediately after receiving, not even one child held their head down in thanksgiving but merely looked around as though nothing had happened. They knew it was a big day but I don't think they really knew why,.. The priest came across as really pompous asking the children questions before they received, questions none of them seemed to have the answer for, this probably because of poor catechesis Just so sad When I read about germs and such, I think of how much Our Lord is so humiliated Then there was the comment about taking communion, at this event Do we no longer receive but take? If one could only see that whom they are receiving maybe the hands would not get in the way. Why so banal?
If people could only see....No doubt! Sure the kids are nervous, have they been taught to cross themselves when they receive?
