This is not aimed at you Carol, but I think the mainstream gets everyone caught up in the definitions as a distraction, a slight of hand trick to keep us from realizing that this is all about homosexuality. This is all the sin of Sodom, plain and simple, and when we try to define things otherwise, it keeps the horrid actions that we read about in a separate box from basic homosexuality, meaning that it’s not homosexuality that’s evil, that’s not what’s committing these heinous crimes. It’s a different thing entirely - pedophilia, hebephilia, ephebophilia etc. but not homosexuality (because that’s just two people of the same gender in a real love they say, not something evil like those other things). I just think it’s all a “look away, nothing to see here, the evil is over there” trick. This is the biblical sin of Sodom, plain and simple, regardless of what preferential age the demon has put into the mind of the sick person.

DivineMercy, I agree with most of your post but my point in explaining about these various categories of sexual abuse was to in fact combat statements which discourage making a connection between any of the sexual abuse which has occurred in the Church to homosexuality when that would not be true.

I don't believe that pedophilia is related to homosexuality, I think that it is absolutely horrible and there is no doubt about that. I also think that hebephilia and ephebophilia are horrible too just as any form of abuse is. I think that those who are like me and do not associate pedophilia to homosexuality, should be made aware of these other two forms of sexual abuse which may be rampant in the Church which many, many people believe is associated to homosexuality.

Iow, I think that it may be the case that many people want to label all sexual abuse that has occurred in the Church as pedophilia so they can say, "well, pedophilia is not associated to homosexuality" etc. when in fact, many of the sexual abuse cases that have occurred in the Church fall into the other two categories of hebephilia and ephebophilia which are associated with homosexuality.

Right, these are legally and medically precise terms, not just saying GAY or denigrating the sinfulness of the acts. These are correct terms.
    Thank you, Carol.

Not everyone who has same sex attraction is a pedophile and not everyone who is a pedophile suffers from same sex attraction. However I was just reading the statistic yesterday that about 80% of the pedophilia in the Church is directed towards under age boys of varying ages.

So it would seem that the Church suffers from a scourge of "homosexual" pedophiles. Which is the culmination of two different perversions at the same time.

Praetorian, Can you provide a link to where that statistic originated from, if it was online? Thank you.

If this statistic is accurate and I am understanding it correctly it does not surprise me at all. You stated, "80% of the pedophilia in the Church is directed towards under age boys of varying ages.". Then the other 20% of the pedophilia in the Church is directed towards under age girls of varying ages. Imho, the fact that the victim was a boy or a girl is not indicative of whether the pedophile identifies as a homosexual, as I believe you have stated also.

I wonder what they consider to be under age though, the act of abusing any child who has not experienced puberty would fit the definition of pedophilia. Whereas, the act of abusing any child/young adult who has experienced puberty would fit the definition of hebephilia and ephebophilia. In these two latter cases, I believe that it is more probable that the abuser identifies as a homosexual especially if they are abusing someone of their same sex. This is the point I was trying to make, along with the fact that many sexual abuse cases in the Church may fall into these latter two categories.

I'm sorry Carol I don't remember exactly where I read it, but it was within the last month or so. It was in one of the recent articles having to do with all of the abuse that is currently surfacing. If memory serves though it was simply referring to any homosexual activity between a clergyman and a boy 17 or younger. I don't think they were dividing things up as you did into different categories.

Personally I don't care whether the priests are pedophiles, hebephiles or ephebophiles. It makes little difference how they are categorized. They are perverts who are abusing their position and priesthood and using underage children as sex objects. Toys for their carnal lusts who will be tossed away permanently damaged.

"But he that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea."

I am convinced all the troubles in this world and all the sinfulness that is well mentioned on the MOG forum seeks to easily distract one from what God wants for us to be doing and that is enter the ark of prayer and penance in faithful anticipation for the era of peace that Mary and scripture said would come. I am convinced there is little else the faithful can do at this time, as ears are closed to hear anything related to the truth. Honestly, the main place I find peace is in prayer in the front of the blessed sacrament and at home in front of the shrine. The world wears one down and prayer lifts one up. I also find peace in studying/reading good spiritual books, like In Sinu Jesu (in the heart of Jesus). One of the very best books I have ever read and in it, our Lord gives all the answers to the troubles of our broken world.

I looked around on the net and found a website with statistics and sent it to you. I don't feel comfortable posting it publicly. It did say though that 81% of the victims were male and 19% female.

  11. Could it possibly be the moment of the Warning when, from the outside looking at/witnessing what would take place with themselves and with the people of the entire world in the future, seeing themselves and all of their grievous sins with nowhere to hide, watching their individual reactions of complete horror when they experience who they truly are before God? Such a scene, experienced beforehand, would send people (at least those who still have any connection to God and not completely having already sold their souls to evil) to confessions, finally, or to their churches, beating their breasts and crying for more time or chances to repent before this inevitable future event occurs. Our Lady has been begging people to change NOW before the Warning when perhaps their already hardened and cold hearts would not even be able to respond to that last event of Mercy (mixed with Judgement) and save themselves! To have knowledge of this coming event and its consequences beforehand would be miserable and yet a saving grace from the Mother.

  12. The secular report, John Jay, written and accepted as the statistical summary of the Church scandal spoke of predominantly active homosexual involvement against males (81%). "Majority of victims (almost 75%) were between 11 and 17 years of age", classifying the perpetrators more accurately as "hebephiles"!

SOME KEY MISUNDERSTANDINGS REGARDING THE CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE SCANDAL AND THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

.....In 2002 the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops commissioned an independent study to address growing concerns about child sexual abuse in the Catholic Church in the United States. The Conference enlisted the John Jay College of Criminal Justice to conduct this study examining rates and characteristics of the sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. This study presents the best and most objective data on this phenomenon. The researchers found that a total of 10,667 individuals had made allegations of child sexual abuse against 4,392 Catholic priests between 1950 and 2002, and that most such acts took place between 1960 and 1984. The 4,392 priests made up 4% of all Catholic priests in the 14 Dioceses/ Eparchies in the United States.

These statistics contradict the misconception that a majority of priests commit sexual abuse and even that priests are more likely to abuse than the general population. In fact, priests offend at the similar rates as the general population. Another common misconception is that most priests committing child sexual abuse were pedophiles, that is individuals attracted to prepubescent children. It turns out that the majority of victims (almost 75%) were between 11 and 17 years of age; therefore, a more accurate clinical term for these priests is hebephiles (showing sexual preference for children in their early years of adolescence)—rather than pedophiles. The major distinguishing feature of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church is that the majority of alleged victims are male (81%), while in the general population females are more likely to be sexually abused (Pereda et al., 2009). This fact also suggests that part of the problem is a hebephilic homosexual orientation on the part of priests—adolescent boys are the most vulnerable population to be victimized—which becomes a political hot potato, given the secular agenda to normalize homosexuality.

etoa, Thank you for posting this. This is almost exactly what I was trying to express in regard to this subject. In addition to the secular agenda to normalize homosexuality, now we have priests like Father James Martin who are also trying to normalize homosexuality.

I thank other MOG members for trying to bring this to our attention. The following were posted on MOG in September and I missed them,

    https://lifepetitions.com/petition/pope-remove-james-martin

As Father Gerard Murray has stated in regard to Father James Martin's book Building a Bridge, "The real purpose of this book is to advocate for a relaxation of the Church’s teaching that sodomy is gravely immoral and that any attraction to commit acts of sodomy is an objective disorder in one’s personality." http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/father-james-martin-proposes-an-alternate-catechism

Now there is another petition which I know was also recently posted on MOG,

PETITION: Urge the Vatican to cancel pro-LGBT talk at event for Catholic families
    [IMG]
The Vatican, through its Dicastery for Laity, Life and Family, has put pro-homosexual Jesuit Father James Martin on its program to speak at the 2018 World Meeting of Families.

The World Meeting of Families is a massive Vatican-sanctioned Catholic conference scheduled to take place in Dublin in August 2018.

Fr. Martin’s talk is titled “Exploring how Parishes can support those families with members who identify as LGBTI+,” suggesting there are an infinity of genders.

Since speaking to the dissident group New Ways Ministry in 2016 and publishing his controversial book Building a Bridge last year, Fr. Martin has devoted himself to promoting the LGBT cause.

He openly says he wants to change the Catechism of the Catholic Church to take out language about homosexual activity being “disordered.” He supports gay men kissing each other during the sign of peace at Mass, says that a Catholic attending a same-sex “wedding” is like attending a Jewish wedding, and suggests that his critics are secretly gay themselves.

He supports transgender bathrooms and regularly accuses faithful Catholics of “homophobia” for believing what the Church has always taught.

Father Martin says homosexual priests should “come out” about their sexual proclivities, but has publicly declined to say whether he himself is gay.

Please click on the following link to sign this petition,
    https://lifepetitions.com/petition/urge-vatican-to-cancel-pro-lgbt-fr-james-martin-talk

We need to sign the above petition and have our friends and our family sign this petition also!!!

After one week it only has 144 signatures! This is not about hating anyone, it is about continuing to recognize a sin as a sin.

    Edited to add:
I also posted much of this post on "The Vatican Has Fallen" thread. In addition, member Jarg has posted the following about Father James Martin on that thread and I would like to quote Jarg here,

"This pamphlet is being distributed by the Jesuits in nyc...maybe just a taste of what Fr James Martin is bringing to World Meeting of Families.
