Saw this on X this morning. While there's only the two of us here, as a family we're struggling with most of what's mentioned below. While neither of us has ever been afraid of hard work, the need/desire to have some fun as well has eluded us since the pandemic. It may seem counter to the idea of the Great Fast, but this seems to be what we need to work on ~ our small contribution to the effort, if you will.... To rebuild the culture from the ruins will require restoration of the family, the building block of civilization. ~Pray together ~read good books aloud ~limit tech ~have fun together ~eat meals together ~embrace character formation ~teach hard work ~firm, loving discipline
Wonderful passage. You are right that since the pandemic everything is busy, speeded up and intense. Why? I ponder it. I find it hard to work in a holy hour. It never used to be hard.
Yes, we too have struggled with being able to have any fun and relaxation together as a family. Will y'all please pray for my husband, who is trying so hard to find a job with day shift and Sunday off?
Thank you so much. My husband got the call today for an interview on Tues at a job that would have better hours and better Sundays, but still night shifts. The hope is that if my husband got this job, he'd easily get the day shift when one opens up. The pay is good--slightly more than he's making now.
This thread is one of the reasons I love this forum. I share koinonia with other real Catholics and I learn stuff. That Stine video is gold.
It would be a good thing if the highlight above included a scheduled (weekly or biweekly) outreach (like visiting a homebound individual or mowing a neighbor's lawn, etc).
MONDAY begins the retreat for the synod. Could this be THE SYNOD? Any prayer warriors ready to take this on? I do not doubt those devoted to the forces of evil are fully engaged and will not rest. Who is joining Our Lady in battle?
