Good post Andy. I wonder what is the point of discernment if not to toss what is against our faith or keep what is helping build it up. A judgement then must be made at some point. Not a judgement on the soul of the person but of the fruits of that person. Take MDM for instance: a judgement has been made that the fruit is rotten. Does anyone dare condemn her to hell? Of course not.
Pointing out a scandal within the Vatican is not passing judgement on the souls of the men in it. I believe the closer you draw to Christ the more blatantly obvious a deception becomes. There are several people on this forum who can have a debate about important matters without getting upset, losing their peace, or falling into sin. There are others who easily lose peace, get upset and lash out when they feel backed into a corner. Such debates are not for the latter.
I have NEVER read a post in this forum stating that Pope Francis is worthy of or will be going to hell. I have read questionable material (quotes and articles) coming from the Vatican or from Pope Francis himself.
I believe preparation for the storm is over. I believe the storm is not approaching; I believe that it is here. Confusion will reign this year and I believe the sowers of that confusion will be unmasked sooner than later. God bless

I agree, little me. The storm is here. The time of confusion that we've been warned about is upon us. So, why are we scandalized by the confusion? The purpose of all the warnings is to keep us all safe in the barque of Peter, no matter what.

Being scandalized means offending ones moral sensibilities. Anything that is not Truth is a scandal. Being scandalized doesn't necessarily mean you are confused, though some may be. I have to agree with Charlie J. on his post today and will quote him:
" I support the Pope – as you know I have against some ugly attacks. But just as Peter needed to hear Paul tell him to knock off the nonsense, Pope Francis needs to hear the same right now. I support the Pope and the Bishops: I do NOT support never criticizing them. Such sham piety was a big part of what led to the sexual abuse scandals."

We are all part of this body. I love Pope Francis and I love our Church. Above all, I love Truth.

What I'm saying is that we've been warned that a time of great confusion is coming on the Church, and now that it's here, we're all up in arms about it.

If I could double like Andy's post above, I would. I am determined to not allow the enemy to steal my peace.

Up in arms is right, I am a soldier for Christ and I will fight to the death for Truth, for this is the call of our Master. I will not be passive in the storm, as I know you will not be either. Peace is ours, given to us and treasured by us. Your Sister, Laura

Good thing Charlie didn't say that here, he'd be accused of attacking the Pope. :(

The line in the discernment process is not only judging whether a person's actions or words are good or evil, but also judging whether a person is good or evil.

These pretext arguments do not require discernmant to me...Its so clear what are Holy Father is saying, in context
Then this passage came to mind

    Romans 11:8
as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that should not see and ears that should not hear, down to this very day.”

This may sound harsh, but to persist in this endless Francis bashing makes no sense in light of Francis continued catechesis for many weeks now on the Family. He reaffirms over and over marriage is only between one man and one women and they are to pro create as part of Gods plan...

Vatican Big Goes Hard Against U.S. Tea Party Climate Skeptics

    The Associated Press
    by Austin Ruse19 May 201590

Many Catholics and others were puzzled by the appearance of Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Professor Jeffrey Sachs and former Senator Tim Wirth as speakers or honored guests at a Vatican sponsored conference on global warming.

All three have spent years actively undermining Church teaching on questions of abortion and UN-style family planning, which includes active population control.

In recent weeks, Ban issued a report calling for women in conflict situations to have access to abortion even if it’s against the law, ignoring the issue of national sovereignty.

Jeffrey Sachs, professor at Columbia University in New York, ran a global campaign for more than a decade to get abortion code language into the Millennium Development Goals, an important document that guided the spending of billions of dollars over the past 15 years.

Former Democratic Senator from Colorado Tim Wirth was U.S. Under-Secretary of State during the Cairo Conference on Population and Development. He, along with Al Gore and Hillary Clinton, was in open war with the Vatican over so-called “reproductive rights.” Wirth famously had a Christmas tree in his office that was festooned with condoms.

Stefano Gennarini, Director of Legal Studies at the Center for Family and Human Rights (C-Fam), a UN-accredited NGO, got an exclusive interview with the archbishop who sponsored the meeting at the Vatican and who invited these opponents of Church teaching. Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo is a progressive Argentine Bishop who heads the Pontifical Academies for Science and Social Sciences, which together hosted the “Protect the Earth, Dignify Humanity” workshop.

Gennarini asked Sanchez if he knew Sachs had written that abortion is a “low-cost” way to to reduce fertility. Sanchez brushed off the question, “The climate crisis leads to poverty and poverty leads to new forms of slavery and forced migration, and drugs, and all this can also lead to abortion.”

Gennarini pressed Sanchez on collaborating so closely with abortion proponents such as Ban Ki-moon and Jeffrey Sachs. Sanchez once again deflected by attacking the Tea Party and making accusations of dishonesty:

“The Tea Party and all those whose income derives from oil have criticized us, but not my superiors, who instead authorized me and several of them participated,” he said.

Gennarini wanted to know how the questions of abortion and population control were resolved prior to the Vatican meeting.

Sanchez said, “..the draft SDGs [new development goals replacing the MDGs] don’t even mention abortion or population control. They speak of access to family planning and sexual and reproductive rights. The interpretation and application of these depends on governments.” Sanchez seemed unaware that it is precisely the phrase “reproductive rights” that is used to promote a right to abortion.

Later in the interview Sanchez once more smeared American conservatives, when asked whether Pope Francis agrees that climate change can be assigned to human activity:

This I do not know. But I suppose yes, because he would not write an encyclical just to say that man is responsible for the earth but that everything is fine! Perhaps, you believe, like those who live off oil, that everything is fine? The Academy says otherwise, as do all the rest of scientific academies in the world. Only a few scientists paid by lobby groups think differently.

Gennarini challenged Sanchez on the science, specifically on the lack of temperature change over the past 18 years and the difficulty in finding any definitive correlation between human activity and large-scale climate change.

Sanchez proceeded to accuse Gennarini, C-Fam and others of making “false accusations against us.”

You can rest assured that the two academies of which I am chancellor are against abortion and against population control simply because we follow the Magisterium of the Popes, on which we directly depend. I hope that you too will follow this teaching, when it speaks of the gravity of the economic situation, which is all geared towards profit, and when it will speak of the gravity of human responsibility for changes in the climate, as I hope the next encyclical will say.

It has been reported that the controversial document has been delayed, quite possibly because of the push back the Vatican is getting from American and other political conservatives and global warning skeptics.

Keeping a Cool Head on Pope Francis’ Environment Encyclical (7269)

Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, who heads the Pope’s specially selected advisory committee of nine cardinals, responded to questions last month in an appearance at Georgetown University and made a point of emphasizing that the encyclical would focus more on the moral issues than on the science. The Holy See, he said, recognizes that others are in a better position to address the latter. Yet it seems that even this prudential distinction will not suffice to cool down controversy.

When I was 15 I met my Spiritual Director, Father Bernard for the first time. He was I suppose my Spiritual Father for about 30 or forty years onwards. I had perfect trust in him and anything he asked me to do (bar the period when I left the Faith ) I did. I also loved him , I guess even more so than my real father.

He was always there to turn to ,especially in the bad times when I entered the Dark Night f the Soul. Frankly I do not know what I would have done without him.

There is something completely supernatural about the relationship of a spiritual child to their spiritual father/ mother. For instance I know people criticised Father Bernard for being too strict, too straight, too out of step with the times.

But I think this relationship of Spiritual Father and child is a two way thing. For the child it requires constant Faith and belief that Gods grace flows through him, that God speaks through him. If the spiritual child looks at things in a human sense and enters into judgement on the Father clearly the relationship is either badly damaged or dies. It is not for us to enter judgement on our Spiritual Father it is for him to enter into judgement on us.

In a way it reminds me of a young boy who stands on a high wall. His father stands below and ask the child to jump and throw himself into his arms. The child has to take a chance and throw himself into the fathers arms, risking all.

Now God has placed the Holy Father Pope Francis as our spiritual Father. We can look at the relationship we have with him on a human or a spiritual level. Worldly wise of spiritually wise.

I have stepped out in Faith and decided to look at this spiritually.

    1 Corinthians 2:15

Wisdom from the Spirit of God
14But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. 16For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.

I have decided like the littlest of children to do throw myself into his arms and trust him.

To human wisdom , I admit this seems insane. But those who see with spiritual eyes may judge different. He is my Spiritual Father and I the littlest of his children. I will, love, I will trust, I will obey.
