Thinking of material preparations...I think what is happening now in Flint Michigan is an example of what might happen in many places in the future when the storm hits us more fully. For those not in the States, the town of Flint decided to change the drinking water supply from whatever they were using to the Flint River. Long story short, this water ended up causing the lead in the lead pipes to get in the water to dangerously high levels. The citizens complained it did not taste, look, or smell right but were told it was fine. Now kids have dangerously high levels of lead in their systems. Now the pipes are damaged from the water and even though I believe they have gone back to their original water supply, the lead pipes will continue to cause the water to have high levels of lead. It will cost a ton of money and time to replace all the lead pipes. Now these poor citizens can not drink their water or shower with it or brush their teeth, etc. I am not even sure they can cook with it. They can't sell their houses so they are stuck there and are dependent on the government giving them water. What happens when our water is polluted by war or disasters and there is no government to hand out bottled water? I guess the situation tells me that I am not prepared!
