Just found these snippets from Ignatius Press for the movie Mary of Nazareth and just had to put them together. It is a wonderful 3 hour plus movie if you have never seen it, do yourself a favor and try to see the whole movie: The Annunciation: The Visitation: The Nativity: The Presentation: The Finding of Jesus in the Temple: And a bonus one; The Beatitudes:
I dare not watch these, lest they replace the images I already see when praying these mysteries..... Not that I always have control over the images in my brain when praying, but I often have a hard time not thinking about those scenes as depicted in Zeffirelli's "Jesus of Nazareth"... (....and by a quick look, I don't think I want them replaced with this newer interpretation/portrayal.... But that is just my personal preference )
To each his own my friend!! I watch all kinds of movies and still seem to be able to picture it myself but we are all different. It is a beautiful, Catholic movie!!
I thought these videos were fantastic and will add to the images I was already trying to muster, thanks for posting. I would love to watch all this film.
OK, I gave one of them a shot. I don't know......... I'm not buying it..... I watched the "Finding of Jesus in the Temple" in the link posted above and it actually doesn't even depict the event to contemplate. It is just an extra-biblical recounting of the story, later in life, by Mary to the disciples (who look unrealistically entranced by her). Just cheesy and lame compared to "Jesus of Nazareth" in my opinion. Whenever a writer tries to put words in the mouth of Jesus and Mary that were never actually recorded, it just doesn't work for me. They fail miserably every time, and this is no exception.
This is the gold standard, and far superior in this regard in my opinion: Finding of Jesus in the Temple - "Jesus of Nazareth"
Sorry you feel that way Jon. They bring me joy. That snippet was near the end of the movie. The disciples were still hiding in the room and argueing and Mary, being the mother she is, calmed them all by telling a story. That scene is very symbolic to me about how the disciples and the church turn to Mary when in distress.
I also feel the qualilty is very good for a low budget film that is not English but Italian and the natural language of the movie is dubbed and in Italian.
