I looked this up in two of my bibles. One is a Catholic bible and the other is probably protestant (it's a beautifully illustrated book of just the 4 gospels). The Catholic one says "people" and the protestant one says "men."

I have the Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition, in front of me. Luke 17:14 says “there will be two in one bed.”

Okay, after much pondering, the Mandela effect is 100% real, but I do not think it’s about parallel universes, time travel or false memories. There are a few people who remember things differently, but the vast majority of people do not. South America has shifted to the right, we live in the Orion, Mars is smaller than earth, JC Penny is now JC Penney, the Arctic disappeared. The secular, even cosmological, changes don’t bother me as much as the changes to Christian artifacts.

In my memories Creation of Adam was called Creation of Man, and God’s hand was higher than Adam’s, pointing down at it. In my memories Isaiah said that the lion shall dwell with the lamb, not the wolf, which sounds like a sinister change. Noah never released multiple birds, the dove flying with olive branch was a type of baptism, the Holy Spirit flowing over waters. In my scriptures and my daily missal pronouns relating to Jesus are no longer capitalized as if He was a man of God, but not divine.

What I am thinking is this might be the great deception, for it looks like there is more than one reality, which I think is by design. We all know there is only one reality and therefore one truth. I’m suspecting that this is preparation for antichrist, who will preach that we understood religion wrong.

Can any other poster remember that these facts are wrong? Very few people remember. Only a few anonymous people on the internet notice the changes.

what I find extremely dangerous is when some apologists read the Bible and say that the original Greek or Hebrew text was saying something totally different, I saw many heretics denying Mary's virginity (even before giving birth) and the divinity of Christ through of this

I notice a lot. I was born in 1948. I am agreeing with you that this is a subtle shift away from what we have always been taught.
My Douay Bible has an Imprimatur of 1950.
    Douay: Genesis 2;7
And the Lord God formed man of the slime of the earth: and breathed into his face the breath of life, and man became a living SOUL.

Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living BEING.

This is the Book of Revelation in my Catholic New Revised Standard Edition that I got when I was baptized.

Now I have read this book many times over the years. I have never encountered the word “comrades” in verse 9. I would have remembered it if I had, but it just showed up.

Also look at the pronouns referring to Jesus. Even in my daily missal the pronouns are not capitalized, though I remembered differently. Prayers I printed from the internet are more respectful to His divinity than the prayers of my missal now!

I was a bit skeptical when you first mentioned the mandela effect thinking that there was some confusion in memory. I read the Bible daily and have read it cover to cover many times, as well as listen to the readings at daily Mass and the points you have brought up are valid to me. To help aid you, I looked this up in the RSV Bible online and it says,"You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brethren the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book." I checked my RSV Bible that I purchased from EWTN and it says "brethren." I then checked the Navarre Bible purchased also from EWTN and it says, "brethren." Douay Rheims online says, "brethren." I don't know what's going on but I believe you.

Can anyone remember that the person in today's mass reading was man, not a woman? Or that Johns Hopkins used to be John Hopkins? Or that Edsger Dijkstra was different? Or that the Addams family was the Adams family?

The changes are increasing, but I absolutely remembered the last 3 for personal reasons.

Johns Hopkins was always Johns Hopkins. He was born in the next county from me and there is a road named for him.

Regarding the capitalised pronouns, I recall reading or watching a discussion about this in the past few weeks. I don't recall all the details but what stuck in my mind was that capitalising the pronouns is a relatively recent innovation, possibly introduced by Protestants although I'm not certain of that. If I manage to recall where I read or saw it, I'll post a link.

I believe the shift from brethren to comrades in Chapter 22 of Revelation is more easily explained. For 50 years, we have been taught that gender specific nouns and pronouns (men, brethren, etc), when used to address the population-at-large, are sexist and support a preference for patriarchy (virtually a mortal sin these days). So in the above instance, brethren (i.e brothers) has been changed to comrades because the latter is not gender specific. Even so, I think it a lousy choice since for me it has communistic connotations.

I have been affected by this, too. My breviary edition is from the '60's; when I encounter brothers in the context of prayers, my mind automatically wants to switch it to brothers and sisters, especially if my wife, Geralyn, is praying with me.

    And so it goes.

I agree with your observation. It used to be that man and men, and mankind, represented all people, male and female.
As in: “if any man sin we have an Advocate with the Father.”

Yes, HH. Soul infers a reference to immortality, while being can reference to any creature, whether angel, man, or animal. Stretched to its limit plants are created, and thus creaturely.

Hmm, I read the gospels many times, there was never a woman healed in the temple. And now is sounds like Jesus rebukes the Pharisees for watering their animals rather than taking up a ditch. Paul’s letters try to make it sound like nothing is forbidden, not even sin, and that it is against spirituality to insist that some things are forbidden: Colossonians 2:20-23. Catholic prophecy long ago said the antichrist will dispense with commandments, so long as you accept him as God.

Like I said, there are a few random people on the internet going through the same thing. It’s not craziness or bad memory: https://www.reddit.com/r/Retconned/

I don’t agree with many of their hypotheses on what is causing it. I think it is the great delusion that blinds people into accepting the antichrist as the messiah. The Christ figure that comes first is the antichrist, and he will do many supposed miracles and seem to be loving, just like how Francis seemed humble at first, before the years went by and we saw his pride.

I don't remember a woman being healed in the temple either. I thought it was the hemorraging woman who touched Jesus' cloak that was healed of her infirmity of 18 years. An exorcist priest once said that the Devil hates Latin so I checked the Douay Rheims Latin Vulgate for today's Gospel reading. I went to Luke 13:11 in English and then cross checked the Latin translation. I ran the Latin translation through an online translator and it said "woman." I think that the Devil is playing with our minds rather than his being able to play around with God's Word.

Subtle manipulation of language is so crafty. I remember when all the pronouns had to be changed in the Mass readings and God was never referred to as "He" lest some feminist be offended. It made me crazy! All the hymns were changed to inclusive pronouns. "I am the Bread of Life...he who comes to me shall not hunger..." became "whoever comes to Me" and so on. Twisting into pretzels to pacify Woman Church. Aaaaargh.
