The Threefold Blessing of Mary. The Blessed Trinity. Mary was thrice Blessed by the Trinity and we see this so well in the Miracle of the Incarnation. She said a 'Yes' to the Will of the Holy Father and her Fiat made her His perfect daughter. She opened her self as Spouse to the Holy Spirit and through this SPirit the Word became Flesh. She became Mother of God, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
I believe my own initial introduction into Devotion for Mary was typical and focussed entirely on Mary as Mother of Jesus. The typical Christmas Card picture of Mary with the CHild Jesus in her arms,,and what could be more beautiful?
Moving on from that though I understood that we ourselves were to bring forth Jesus by being changed , from one degree of Golry into the next into the image of Christ as perfect children of Mary. View attachment 3571
But that this tranformation is worked as it was in Mary by the Power of the Holy Spirit. That we too are detned to become SPouses of the Holy Spirit.
Mary's, 'Yes' to the Father made all things possible. Our , 'Yes', to the Father makes all thing possible too.
I would add serenity. Our Lady gave me two words recently about herself (that is her qualities) that I have to pray for the grace to become (one came on a Saturday and the next word came the following day on the Sunday). PURITY & SERENITY I will share here that there have been days in the last six months of my life that our Lady has been so close I actually expected to see her physically. In fact, I am getting a profound sense that one day before I die I will see her with my eyes physically. But God alone knows. What joy to know we have a real Mother not just a spiritual mother but a real loving, kind, generous and gracious Mother who knows us her children, oh so well!
I read the chapter in Mystical City of God about the incarnation last night. It was such a beautiful chapter. God squeezed her most pure and loving heart and 3 drops of blood came out and went to her womb to become the Lord Jesus. Out of the blood of Mary we get our Lord. In some mystical way when we eat his flesh and drink his blood we are also sharing a part of this pure and loving blood of Our Mother. I was hung up on one thing though. It was said that the incarnation occurred on March 25 but I thought the whole idea of Jesus being born on December 25th was not historically accurate and that it was estimated that he really would have been born in September?? Anyone know anything about this? Maybe it is just what the locutionist put together in their own thoughts to fit with the liturgical calendar at the time?
Another wonderful thing about Mary's yes. At the point in history, humans elevated above the angels and that is why Gabriel came and bowed before Mary which would have confused Mary because her teachings from past would have seen men bow to angels (not to mention her own humility as reason to bow before an angel of God...so beautiful her perfect soul). It is also the reason we saw the angel tell John at Patmos not bow to him either. Through Mary came the Lord, through her yes, came salvation and all of heaven would bow to their eternal Queen.
Yes Andy3, I remember reading, that in the old Testament when an Angel appeared and people knelt, the Angel did not correct them. But once Mary said yes to God's request to become the mother of the Messiah; from then on mankind was elevated, and Angels would say, we do not need to kneel in their presence. We are blessed through Mary with a new dignity in God's eyes which is astounding.
When Fr Andreu died he was shown the Miracle and said "how blessed we are to have such a Mother in Heaven." Perhaps we too will be shown the Blessed Mother.
I'm having a similar experience. As Padraig said, she was always "high above" for me, but now, she is drawing closer and closer. I've been hearing in prayer for some time, "Keep your eyes on Jesus." But there's something new - Sunday at Mass, I heard, "Keep your eyes on Jesus and your ear to your Mother's mouth." I asked about this, and got an understanding that, as spouse of the Holy Spirit, her words are the words of the Spirit. I heard this again at Mass today, and wondered about it. I heard, "Do you think the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven, the Mediatrix of all Graces will be outdone in generosity?" I also keep thinking about the promises made by Jesus to Luisa Piccarreta - that for those who live in the Divine Will there will be unprecedented graces. What could that be???????
Tomorrow I will be speaking + teaching about 65 teenagers (13-14 year old) about our Lady and the Rosary in assembly for about fifteen minutes. They are largely unchurched and poorly catechised so mostly nominally Catholic. My aim is to honour our Blessed Lady and to promote devotion to her. Say a wee prayer that things go well. Ave Maria
G, don't know if this will help. Youth retreat director...he makes some good points. Many youth need proof of a Creator....watch and see, hes pretty good EWTN Life on the Rock 10/09/15 Brian comes on @ 9:33
Prayers going up. Let us know how it goes. I'd be interested to see if any of them connect with you during your talk. Sometimes, just the facial expression can say a lot about how a person is impacted, or what their thoughts are. I'd bet that, perhaps a tiny number, maybe even just one of them, already love Our Lady but wouldn't admit it to their peers, because it's not 'hip', or cool.
May the Holy Spirit use your words as arrows to pierce their hearts with Our Lady's maternal love! Safe in the Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!
OUR LADY OF GOOD REMEDY Eight hundred years ago, Christians were being captured by the Moslems and sold into slavery by the thousands, and nobody knew what to do about iT. Then, in the year 1198, a man had an idea. St. John of Matha founded the Trinitarians to go to the slave markets, buy the Christian slaves and set them free. To carry out this plan, the Trinitarians needed large amounts of money. So, they placed their fund raising efforts under the patronage of Mary. They were so successful that, over the centuries, the Trinitarians were able to free thousands and thousands of people and to return them safely home. In gratitude for her miraculous assistance, St. John of Matha honored Mary with the title of "Our Lady of Good Remedy." Devotion to Mary under this ancient title is widely known in Europe and Latin America, and the Church celebrates her feast day on October 8. Our Lady of Good Remedy is often depicted as the Virgin Mary handing a bag of money to St. John of Matha. When in need for whatever reason, but especially where you had difficulty obtaining help, invoke the aid of Our Lady of Good Remedy, and you will surely experience the power of her intercession.
