It can be quite often that they use the printed missal, especially for ordinary time masses. But since yesterday was the beginning of advent, Priests will often pull out their old lectionaries and Roman missals to make sure everything happens in proper order. It is like this with many feast days and solemnities. Yesterday the priest in my parish forgot to light the advent candle even though he was using the lectionary and Roman missal.

Seems to be a broad pattern, alright.

Whatever the focus each particular CCB's translators wish to impart, it appears at times a wish to tickle the ears of Catholics, not with the eternal truth of God's Word, but rather subject the Word to the cultural bias of the day. Why else would they plan on updating the Lectionary periodically. Yes, language does evolve over decades, but it seems as if "tickling the ear" is a centerpiece of their efforts to "update" every 10-15 years! That's why the older translations speak to my heart.

Was not the great virtue of Latin that, being a non-vernacular tongue, it did not evolve, therefore ensuring the preservation of meaning?

I suspect that's the reason the modernists hate it.
