yes Jarg. This seems to be our guide for this sorrow and misery we are all experiencing. Double down on prayer and mortification. Padre Pio always took the high road of holiness. Hard for me though mired as I am in my chronic sinfulness. But I will keep trying.

Yes Padraig. You have told it as it is. I too anguish over souls who are so dear to me and yet so so blind. I pray earnestly to stay faithful and beg for them to receive the graces needed to smash through the worldliness and frivolousness and obtuseness infecting these souls all around me. Only the Holy Spirit can blow up this arrogance and pride. More and more I understand St John saying in Revelation that "God would send them a great delusion" because they preferred the lie to the Truth. Now I see it increasing like a very black storm cloud. I just hate and fear the worldliness that sticks to me like grit from just living in it. I begin to see what drove the Desert Fathets into the desert.

I think actually the situation we are in is far, far worse than that suffered by the Early Christians. They lived in a pre Christian World were the Gospel had not been accepted. They were in a world that was moving day by day from Darkness to Light.

We however live in a Post Christian World were the Gospel has been preached and rejected including by most of our fellow Catholics who are now Catholic in little but name only. We move very rapidly day by day into greater and greater Darkness. Worse the first 34 Popes were all saints who lived holy lives and died for the Faith. We on the other hand, have spiritual leaders who, to put it mildly, in very many cases we cannot repose confidence in.

But an old Scottish man I used to know said that, 'It is the problems we are sent and the way we handle them that make us the men we are'. Well it is the trials of this age don't make us great saints, I don''t know what will. :) If we persevere that is. If we persevere.

Ok folks, apparently I suffer from indifferentism (among "other things.") And we have no idea how serious this situation is in our day.

    Beware.

Be at peace, though. Todd has come to wake us all up and save us from our stupor.

    Hi Todd,
    Welcome!
I know the times are very, very grave indeed and there is much to be upset about, but we also need to look to our own peace of mind as well. God wants us to have total trust in Him. Do not be agitated (I know it is difficult). Like the apostles on the boat that was capsizing we do not need to become overwhelmed, but calmly trust in Our Lord to handle things. The Church is so far gone at this point I do not think human efforts can change it. We must rely totally on God. We must pray of course and do what we can, but do not fret brother. All will come right in the end. Please don't be upset at Brian or any of the other members. I guarantee you if there is one thing Brian isn't it is indifferent ;) He and many of the others here see the problems in the Church very well. Just stick with Our Lady and she will guide you and the rest of us through to her Son!

Read more carefully. I was warning MOG forum members to beware of ME because obviously I am indifferent (among other things) but thankfully you've come to save us.

So...you're a sedevacantist? Or just a follower of MariaDivineMercy?

Todd please rethink you position on this. It is sedevacantism and is the serious canonical crime of Schism. The 1st Vatican council stated infallibly that we would have perpetual successors to Peter. You are in serious error if you reject this.

    5. Therefore, if anyone says that it is not by the institution of Christ the lord himself (that is to say, by divine law) that blessed Peter should have perpetual successors in the primacy over the whole Church; or that the Roman Pontiff is not the successor of blessed Peter in this primacy: let him be anathema.

I don't have the time/energy to review this whole thread. I would like to thank Padraig for allowing this forum and particularly his leadership on this issue. It hit me like a ton of bricks, Pope Francis is the definition of a "wolf in sheep's clothing." He hides behind the cloak of "mercy" and "social justice", his definitions, not Christ's or the perennial teachings of the church. He has allowed the "wolves" into the vatican and cause division. This is no one's fault but his. His synod of the family was pure alinsky-ite, create/identify problems to push through your agenda. Do not create/let a crisis go by without taking advantage of it.

Indeed, it appears the gates of hell have overtaken the Vatican, but not the Church, it's teachings, or the sacraments. Pray.

I only know that the Church of St John Paul 11 led us for such a long time, is the true Church established by Jesus. The Mass is such a powerful experience that no true believer can deny it is Jesus in the Host. Honestly I have been to the old Latin Mass and while it is very respectful, it is not so impactful on my soul as the vernacular is; my soul responds immediately when I understand perfectly the prayers being said, without having to divert my mind to interpretation.

Secondly, if the Church were heretical (because of Vatican 11) would consecration really take place?
Again being in Eucharistic Adoration is just awesome; I know He is there.

    God Bless

I don't think he is a troll. I just think he is someone looking for the truth and has been sadly misguided into sedevacantism. Sedevacantism is just an overreaction to the situation in the Church and a serious error. It is easily refuted if one has the time to do it. The problem with most sedevacantists is they swim in a small pool of other sedevacantists and usually are not exposed to the truth that shoots holes in the sedevacantist theories. It is actually not traditional Catholicism at all and is much closer to Protestantism.

Thank you Praetorian, just looked into sedevacantist theories.
 Basically Catholics that fell off the band wagon pre Vatican II and definitely much closer to protestantism. Praying for Todd as he is trying to stir the wrong pot so to speak  which led me to think he is a troll.

    But there lies the problem.
When we do protest, we meet with opposition from the papal idolaters, who warn us not to be schismatics but to just obey the one who occupies the chair of Peter. No matter what heresy comes from him.
