Thank you, I must study this. Such difficult times. I reject so much coming out of Rome at the moment I fear I am turning into a stubborn old crank.
I don't know about that priest. His Bishop is a good one, who lead the charge to deny Communion to pro-abortion politicians including Biden: Archbishop Samuel Aquila of Denver, who has sharply criticized Biden’s abortion stance, told the AP he favors creation of a national policy on Communion, as opposed to the current “patchwork approach.” He said bishops should first have a private conversation with an individual deemed to be in a state of sin, and deny Communion if they persist. https://apnews.com/article/health-c...ics-religion-22e0d1ba299fe8693013036e3cc85c81 Yet this priest seems to have a history fighting with his bishops, even the fine one he has now... https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/...eleases-letter-responding-to-claims-by-priest I don't know if I would value his thoughts on obedience too highly.
I tried entering "Fr. Ripperger Obedience" in youtube's search box. Here's the result; https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=fr+ripperger+obedience Is it one of those videos? I tried the first one but it doesn't sound like Fr. Ripperger's voice.
A thoughtful article on obedience…. https://catholicexchange.com/how-can-we-be-obedient-to-sinful-superiors/
I always find it interesting the Jesus answered Pilate but maintained silence with Herod. My thought is that he recognized the authority of Pilate but did not recognize the authority of the “King of the Jews” Herod. Jesus was not obedient to false authority. Just a thought that I have had in contemplating on His Passion. I’m sure there’s a lot more that can be gotten from those two scenes.
I believe that the evil kings of Israel were a model of the evil popes we have had throughout history. In the case of Ahab, the idolatrous king of Baal, God waited patiently for years for his conversion, and used Elijah's ministry to warn the people of Israel; and the king himself, so that none of them perished. However, obviously, the papacy is bound by many promises superior to those of the people of Israel.
