Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" came out while I was deployed during Gulf War I. It has always been full of meaning for me and, no doubt, my Comrades in Arms..

It's not just US politics, Miker, but throughout the Western world people are growing ever more cynical and disaffected with politics and politicians. They are also gradually wising up to bias and spin in news coverage, although that penny is dropping slowly. At least you Americans get to vote for people who have the power to make a difference provided they have the courage.

 

I don't know about that anymore. Look at the house of representatives led by so-called pro-life catholic Paul Ryan. He just passed a bill to fully fund planned parenthood and their subsequent selling of body parts.

 

He will answer to God for it..

 

They all seem to think that this life is all there is to it.

But it's not.

 

Maybe he lacks courage or maybe he couldn't rely on enough support from his own side or maybe he thinks it better to wait until the Presidential veto is off the table. I get the impression that the Republicans are wary of "women's health" issues being the hot button topic during the Presidential election next year. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Trump has conducted private polls and is basing some of his rhetoric on what the polls show. I'll bet that the Democrats are also conducting their own polls, and they aren't looking too confident. There's bound to be a chunk of the Democratic Party that isn't comfortable with Clinton, hence the Sanders bid, but the Republicans are so busy attacking each other they are losing the opportunity to exploit the Democrats' divisions.

 

I've just had this feeling that there will not be an election next year. Even before I ever heard of C. Johnson. And I really think the last election was fixed . . .i have no confidence in our congress. Even looking at Ryan with his new beard that he is hiding behind tells me he has been brain washed.

 

In fairness to Ryan, I think it would take a little longer for him to succumb to brainwashing. Imagine all the back room manoeuvring and planning that must go on in political circles. The strategists will be crunching the numbers, checking the polls and trying to figure out how to get a boost for their preferred candidate(s). They won't do anything that could turn into a banana skin between now and the election. Trump must be causing them a real headache.

It would take something extraordinary for Obama to not finish his term and then for the election to be scrapped. I'm not much of a believer in either private revelation or unapproved apparitions, but maybe the Garabandal warning could fit Charlie's prediction. At least we won't have to wait years to find out.

I watched the video, Rubio was fervent. Two of his comments though, he knew who he was talking to, evangelical pastors. In the news and it may not be true I wonder, why does Marco belong to a Protestant congregation if he is Roman Catholic?

I have a friend that runs his new england operations. basically he converted to Catholicism in his teens. Then during his 30's started at attend a baptist church he felt was ver fundamentalist and then 10 years ago realized that Catholic was where he was supposed to be and attends daily mass multiple times a week.

Some of his family are still members of the baptist church so he attend there occasionally, but never instead of mass.
