Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance. Where there is patience and humility, there is neither anger nor vexation. Where there is poverty and joy, there is neither greed nor avarice. Where there is peace and meditation, there is neither anxiety nor doubt. The Counsels of the Holy Father St. Francis, Admonition 27.
"Acquire a peaceful spirit, and around you thousands will be saved." St. Seraphim of Sarov https://orthodoxwiki.org/Seraphim_of_Sarov
We would be less hurt by people if we assumed that they mean the best not the worst. Though occasionally they mean the worst too. Katherine Brodsky
Sort of reminds me--although not at all the same thing--of Father Ripperger saying you shouldn't go looking for the devil behind every rock. And then he added--every other rock maybe.
From a daily quote book for Archboshop Sheen for April 21. This is the choice before us: either try to revolutionize the world and break under it or revolutionize ourselves and remake the world.
"The confessional is the only court in the world where you plead guilty and are acquitted." (Padre Pio)
CHESTERSON again - my favourite quote http://www.gkc.org.uk/gkc/pictures/chesterton-2.jpg "The only real sadness, the only real failure, the only great tragedy in life, is not to become a saint."
"God the Father gathered all the waters together and called them the seas. He gathered all His graces together and called them Mary". - St. Louis de Montfort
"The World is trying the experiment of attempting to form a civilised but non- Christian mentality. The experiment will fail; but we must be very patient in awaiting its collapse; meanwhile redeeming the time: so that the Faith may be preserved alive through the dark ages before us; to renew and rebuild civilisation, and save the World from suicide." ~TS Eliot
The internet has been a real blessing.....Little gems like that have been popping up everywhere lately...
Neglecting misinformation, the internet is exposing all, showing those of us who are concerned, the folly of our lifestyle. It is also airing all manner of religious, new age and political views enabling us to find the Truth.
This is also good one from T.S.Eliot and it is happening right now. “But the Church cannot be, in any political sense, either conservative or liberal, or revolutionary. Conservatism is too often conservation of the wrong things: liberalism a relaxation of discipline; revolution a denial of the permanent things.”
