Does this indicate that you believe that everything is predestined as this is definitely contrary to Church teachings? If so, do you disapprove all medical treatments like the Christian Scientists? Do you agree with the JW's on not accepting blood transfusions? What do you think of infant vaccination against common and sometimes dangerous/fatal infantile diseases?

The virus affects Muslims more than other groups in the UK and some doctors have said that this is partly because faithful Muslims believe, like you, that God has already decided the date and cause of their deaths and so trying to avoid it is pointless. This same attitude makes Muslims ferocious fighters as death on the due date cannot be avoided so one might as well be brave.

 

Ridiculous extrapolation of what I said. This thread is about covid and the fear mongering associated with it.

All I said was do not be afraid of covid.

99.7 percent of people recover from it.

0.0004 percent of the world's population has died from it.

The majority of people will die from cancer or heart disease.

So, if you don't believe that preventative measures against one illness will work, you presumably don't believe it in any case if you are consistent. I was not accusing you of being a Muslim but that your apparent belief in predestination is something that you have in common. Do you believe in blood transfusions, infant vaccination, other preventative interventions? I don't understand how you can reject it in one case and approve it in another. It is inconsistent.

What would be the point if the date of your death is predestined as you state? What would be the point of checking the traffic when crossing the road? You are very clearly promoting a belief in predestination which is not Church teaching.

 

I did not use the term predestined nor predestination. Nor do I believe in predestination. You keep saying it for some reason.

God know the very second that we die because He is omniscient. He knows the number of days we live on this earth - in that sense it is 'ordained' by God.

Perhaps ordained is a clumsy word in this case. But this is the Biblical reference & this is the sense in which I understand it.

Job 14:5 “ A person’s days are determined; you God have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.” And Psalm 139:16 says this … “your (God’s) eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

 

Could there be reasons other than their faith that makes Muslims more vulnerable to the virus - factors that doctors perhaps with an agenda choose to ignore or don't bother to take into account when weighing up the cause(s)? What about darker skinned people living in Northern climates being more likely to have Vitamin D deficiency? Or could their living conditions be more overcrowded and less conducive to social distancing? Maybe a combination of those two factors, and perhaps others we wouldn't be aware of?

 

I had an interesting question about this during the week.

The weather was very good so I had left my window open and our appartment cleaner, Colm heard me listening to Michael Matt from Remnant talking about the virus. Michael Matt asks lots of questions about the virus, lockdowns and masks etc and Colm was very struck by this because he has never heard such questions before.

But he asked me one very good question which has me thinking. Why is the virus so bad in places like India, Brazil and rebreaking out in places like Japan and Europe?

The media puts it down to new variants, but it does make you wonder...
..anyway every time you think it is going away it seems to come right back and bite you again.

It is totally ferocious in some places and not in others, I think. I have been wondering why?

I wish our Bishops would lead us to turn to God in collective prayer, but this is not happening.

 

God will intervene and help us. No doubt about it. But I think we have to ask him first. Not just as individuals but as an entire Church, led by Our Holy Father the Pope.

This is simply not happening.

 

If I may help explain, it's all about God's will. It's God's will that we value life and take reasonable measures to preserve it. It is also up to God's will when we die.

Reading about the saints will show you pretty quickly that death comes to us on God's timetable.

This article gives me pause. I have thought that the high total of covid-19 deaths was a result of counting deaths, which often included co-morbidities, as strictly a result of covid-19 infections. This would lead to a conclusion that total deaths would not be significantly higher. The above article appears to debunk my suspicions?

I took a look at the article. Original source is New York Times. I find they typically have an agenda to their articles so I usually start looking for what information they are not giving, and what they are using for comparisons. In this case the article claims deaths are higher than ‘expected’ but do not give an explanation of expected deaths or a breakdown of causes of death( I’m thinking suicide murder and drug od’s might be higher as well as covid causes) I also usually check comments as I can often find other insights. In this case one woman pointed out that the article used the year of 2009 as the baseline for the trend of increased... ‘expected’ deaths. She checked cdc numbers for the past five years and deaths have been exceeding ‘expected’ deaths for the past five years. The trend has been evident before covid. Another commenter pointed out the data was based on population numbers and we don’t have good data for that given illegal immigration impacts on population growth year over year are not known. A third commenter pointed out that average deaths per year in the Obama admin was 2.5 million over the 8 years. - same number quoted for deaths in 2020.

 

Yes indeed. One of the Great Phenomena of the Virus was that suddenly we all, myself included, became experts. But now like a Jack-in the-Box things like this remind me that I know nothing at all whatsoever. I include in this people who are supposed to be the REAL experts.

I look at things that are happening in places like India and Brazil and it just leaves me staring.

 

But if it teaches me a little bit of humility, well at least that can't be bad.

I will be attending a good friend's funeral on Monday. He was one of the most healthy people I knew. 59 years old. Never smoked, perhaps 5 beers a year, diet and exercise were very important to him.

No diabetes, heart or other problems, never overweight.

Covid killed him in 3 weeks.

I want people to prayerfully consider what they are doing when they paint the vaccine as evil.

The devil plays both ends of all issues.
